Steampunk--so psuedo 19th century? Repeating firearms?
I would suggest Gunslinger (those bloody Americans),
Elephant gun (Right good sport)
Distinguished Marksman (capital shooting chap!)
Gatling Gunner (bit of poor sportsmanship)
and dont forget that sabres were stilled used by officers so at least one melee.
The Gunslinger would be rapid/many shot, quick draw (including improved and Greater), and two weapon.
The Elephant gun would include exotic firearms proficiency (elephant gun), rapid reload, and point blank shot (including improved and greater).
The Distinguised Marksman would be weapon focus/spec, Precise shot, and feats for distance.
The Gatling gunner would be Gatling proficiency/Improved/Greater Rapid Set Up, Highly proficient gunner. All of these are of course specific to the setting.
(as would some of the imp an greater feats but those may be covered in the upcoming advanced players guid...although I do have my versions of those as well.
I will post those feats later as my time is limited tonight.

Okay, I think I figured out what combat style a steampunk ranger would have.
Musketeer combat Style: In addition to archery and two-weapon combat, rangers may choose the musketeer combat style at second level. If he selects musketeer, he is treated as having the Quick Load feat (see below), even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat.
At sixth level, when he gains the Improved Combat Style class feature, he is treated as having the Far Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat.
At 11th level, when he gains the Combat Style Mastery class feature, he is treated as having the Precise Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. As with the other combat styles, the benefits of the ranger’s musketeer style apply only when he wears light or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style when wearing medium or heavy armor.
Quick Load
Choose a firearm (pistol, musket, or rifle).
Prerequisite: Weapon Proficiency (firearm type chosen)
Benefit: The time required for you to reload the chosen firearm is reduced to a move action. Reloading a firearm still provokes an attack of opportunity. Normal: Without this feat, loading a firearm requires a full-round action
Special: You can gain Quick Load multiple times. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of firearm.
A fighter may select Quick Load as one of his fighter bonus feats.

I take it you are going off of 3.5 in this? Because PF rangers don't have "Improved Combat Style" or "Combat Style Mastery", they just get to pick the bonus feats (at levels 2, 6, 10, 14, and 18) from a list that improves as they level up. Also, PF Rangers can do their thing in Medium Armor just not Heavy.
