Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I don't know if this is the right place to make this comment. I looked through all the forums and this seemed the most likely. Anyhow, here goes...

Is it just me, or are the labels on the maps (white letters outlined in black) very difficult to read.

I was reading the first Kingmaker book last week and, as I read about each location, I was referring back to the map. Now my eyes are very sharp, but the font was so small that the black outline merged and the worrds just appeared blurry (they're not, but that's the effect).

The intent was good. I'm sure the idea is that no matter the color of the background the letters would stand out. But, in reality the letters are just mostly black and hard to read.

Perhaps Paizo could experiment with some other color to make the legends readable or make the outline much, much finer.

Oh. This isn't about the lack of lavatories. That's a first! ;-)

I think the captions are readable enough. Maybe they can fine tune line thickness and/or font size, but all in all, it seems fine.

True story:

kingmaker book 1:
While my players were boozing up the bandits at the stag lord's fort, the summoner excused himself to use the bathroom and asked where it was... there wasn't one... so I just said "Uh... it's that corner over nyah!" He then proceeded to summon his eidolon next to a piss-pool.

I haven't really noticed the caption issue myself, maybe they just bug out your eyes for some reason.

I agree! It's worse in Kingmaker, but I have noticed it in other APs as well. But in Kingmaker, especially the overland maps, I have to look them up on the computer so that I can increase the size, the printed version is unreadable. And this is not just me, I had the entire group of six players try to read what it said on the map last week, and none of them could. (And my wife has 20/10 vision). Both the colors and the font. It seems like a case of making it so fancy that it defeats the purpose.

Also, the city buildings in Kingmaker were a big disappointment. Two reasons - many of the buildings tend to look alike, and there is no wording on the buildings, so you don't know what the buildings are. And since they do look quite a bit alike, it makes the buildings useless. Love the module and the AP, but on those maps, Paizo, you really pulled a ....... say an error, to be kind.
