The character is an NPC. His name is Clegg Zincher and he's one of Riddleport's crimebosses, and for the purposes of the adventures is also a prospector in search of the treasure involved. Since I don't know if you are particpating in it, anything more detailed might be spoilering. Hope that helps.

If you don't have the Second Darkness AP, I highly recommend it. Though I haven't played it myself, I do own it. Glad I do, too =)
