Feedback on a multiclassing feat inspired from Magical Knack

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm thinking in integrating this feat in our homebrew and would like some feedback. It is based on Magical Knack and Practiced spellcaster.

Let me know what you think.

VERSATILITY
When multiclassing, pick one ability, or two abilities from two different classes, among the following (CL, sneak attack damage, channel energy, domain power, school power, bloodline power, class level for determining the duration and power of acquired abilities (like rage duration, bardic performance duration, etc.), animal companion, monk unarmed damage, monk AC bonus, monk fast movement, monk ki pool size, paladin smite damage, paladin lay on hands and channel positive energy, ranger track bonus, ranger wild empathy, rogue trapfinding). The character uses the ability as if his class level were 4 higher, up to his character level. If the character picks two abilities from two different classes, they are used as if his class level were 2 higher, up to his character level.

Liberty's Edge

Pretty nice, and I don't really see it getting too overpowered (except MAYBE Mystic Theurge being treated as an 18th level caster in both classes)

I'd honestly probably only pick it up with a level of Fighter so I could pick up Weapon Specialization. Or Monk for their unarmed damage.

To stack or not to stack! That is the question.

I asssume you would allow it to be selected more than once for different "class level dependant" abilities, but could one take it more than once for the same ability(ies)? i.e.: final max. +4, +6 or up to character level?

May it's a non-weapon specialisation! (remember the non-weapon proficiencies?)

Thanks for the comments.

Good catch on multiple uses.

I would probably go with: You can take this feat multiple time, every time it applies to new abilities, or grants half the previous bonuses.

So you would have +4 or +2/+2, then, if you take it again for the same abilities, +2 or +1/+1. For new abilities, it would still be +4 or +2/+2.

What do you think? Too weak? Just right?

I probably would not allow it to stack with it's self beyond a +4 bonus.

Dark Archive

I love that it replaces the dozen or so feats that would appear anyway, and encourages multi-classing options that wouldn't likely ever gain a feat of their own.

I kinda wish the dozen or so '+2 to two skills' feats would be replaced by a similar blanket feat that gives +2 to any two skills.

That was my first impression too but I kind of liked the option of low+high multi-classing (ex.: Gray-Mouser Concept: Wizard1 to Wizard3-Rogue8 to ???) being re-balanced or upgraded by feat investment. Otherwise some character concepts get kind of far from the character build.

Note: The variants in the APG are making me dizzy (in a good way!) at this point and may have some of that covered. To be determined ...

I went for the : "You can take this feat multiple times, but every time it applies to a new set of abilities.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

I would frame it more like practiced spell caster and allow only 4 of those levels to stack otherwise you get a fighter19/rogue 1 with 9d6 sneak attack. doesn't seem too balanced.
