...or do drow make the perfect denizens for the Shadowfell? Officially, the SF already has shadar-kai, but it's a big plane right? Besides, drow have everything that shadar-kai have: angst, dark vision and black leather.

In my world, the drow killed the shadar-kai and took their stuff. (Figuratively, not literally.) Maybe it's just my attraction to symmetry, but it feels right this way: eladrin live in the Feywild, elves live in the mortal plane, and drow live in the Shadowfell.

But what about the Raven Queen's devoted followers?! I hear some of you asking. Well, PC races aren't monolithic. Not all drow are evil Lolth-loving SOBs; in fact there are whole cities at least of decent Raven Queen worshipping drow. And as for the underdark, there are still plenty of races to populate it--both PC and monster.

It makes a certain amount of sense to me, and I don't think the Raven Queen's connection to the Shadowfell should make any difference as to whether or not Drow are in abundance there or not... as you say, it's a big plane :D

Now I'm just wondering how to incorporate this idea into my own campaign given that I'm using Golarion as my setting. While I've kept the 4E cosmology of the Feywild and Shadowfell, I have been using Paizo's material for the origin of the Drow, which I'm now tempted to try to tweak...

Makes sense in regards to the Drow using the Shadowfell as a safehaven (figuratively speaking) and trying to muscle in on the shadar-kai. This allows for player characters to run into situations where they may have to choose the lesser of two evils.

Where do drow come from in Golarion?

Or, the lesser of two emos, one might say. ;)

Y'know I remember where it mentions it...but I can't remember. Ack. It's in the Elves of Golarion booklet, as well as being a big part of Second Darkness. I think they might mention it in the entry in the Bestiary too.

As to your original point about Drow in the Shadowfell, that's a really fun idea. I mean I've always stocked the Underdark with plenty of Shadar-kai so the reverse seems really fun. Especially if you throw in loads of cobweb covered undead spiders and ghostly etherial drow cities. That could be cool like crazy.

Here's a fun idea: drow and death giants together in a Shadowfell flavored homage to Against the Giants.
