How would you approach building this thing? Besides the obvious lazy answer of just using the Corpse Orgy from Tome of Horrors.
Aberration, undead, outsider? Stat it up as a composite being with an undead shell and an aberrant core? And if going the composite route, should it be just 2 components(core + shell) or should the shell be considered composed of several components itself? What about considering the shell as a swarm?(I'm really leaning away from this, although it does make sense from some angles)
The composite approach makes the most sense to me, but are there any good examples of such a creature already statted up out there?
The thing should be damn tough and spawning disposable mooks like crazy, dropping something around 1d4 "zombies" as a quick action every round and something pushing up to a bare minimum of 10 by making a "rain of corpses" attack. Something that could swamp a party if they're not careful.
Maybe multiple methods of absorbing more corpses as well, whether it's something like the old Living Wall effect of dead people getting up and walking over to merge with it or just plain grabbing someone with its 131234 arms and pulling them into its mass.
I had forgotten until today that the damn thing magic missiles like a sorcerer on cocaine once you remove the shell entirely in Symphony of the Night.
Just wondering what others' takes on what this thing should be are, rather than asking for definite answers on Castlevania canon(which is a lost cause anyway, seriously).
