Expanding Hex Size

Kingmaker

What if we changed the size of the hexes... What if each hex was the area that the PCs could explore in a week? Would that effect the narrative at all? Deter exploration in later modules? Make the nation feel suitably grand?

What do you think: good change or bad? Big change or mostly cosmetic?

I am mostly done with the first AP, and here are my thoughts on that:

You would be going from an area the size of Maine to an area the size of Texas.

It would make the first exploration stage go from ~2-3 months of game time to over a year. If your PCs start by clearing out the bandits, like mine did, they may wonder why by the end of that time the Stag Lord didn't come up and deal with them. My PCs are hitting the 2 month mark and are afraid of it happening, since it will mean the 2nd of Kressel's shipments back to the Stag Lord to not be recieved.

Its a gigantic area of land for a small band like the Stag Lord's. The idea that he is striking into Brevoy and is relevant breaks a little.
