Hey everyone,
I reccently started kingmaker. I have a large party, 7 PCs. they usually take down most encounters pretty quickly, except for some fey it would seem.
here is my group, and the events that occured at a campsite several hexes south of oleg's.
1/2 Orc inquisitor
dwarf barbarian
elf monk
gnome summoner with eidolon.
human fighter
human rogue
elf druid with leopard companion.
it was late at night, 2nd watch, the rogue and druid were on watch. the druid hears the sound of small voices, but doesn't call an alarm imediately. the rogue is oblivious. all of a sudden 3 grigs fly up into the air, surrounding the mostly sleeping party.
the druid, being aware that something was up, spotted the grigs and fired an arrow at one, narrowly missing. the 1st grig casts entangle on the partyat which point the barbarian and monk are rendered entangled. the 2nd grig also casted entangle and got most of the rest of the party. the 3rd grig, not happy at being shot at, shoots the druid for a mighty 1 dmg.
the party, now awake, and mostly stuck, awakes and tried to ready or shoot their weapons at the grigs. none hit. the grigs, mearly wanting to have some fun at the biggin's expense, proceded to blind most of the party with pyrotechnics, then smokes them out with another pyrotechnics, then shuts out their campfire with a third. everytime something happens the grigs laugh hysterically (further frustrating the PCs).
the grigs, with there fun complete, begin to fly away as the summoner exits the smoke and spots the closest grig. he summons an eagle to fight the grig, and manages to all but kill it. 1 hp remaining, the grig moves 5ft and becomes invisible. unfortunately the summoned eagle still sensed the grig and managed one last hit, killing the poor little guy.
suffice it to say, the PCs were not too amused by the "fun", though some of the players were. but now I have 2 grigs that just lost their friend and may make more problems for the PCs in the future. I like the random encounters so far, and these little guys were the most fun by far to date. all though the stealthy troll that wandered into camp while the monk on watch was off relieving himself was also pretty amusing.
