You're just trying to get me in trouble....
I might just do it though. Almost dying makes you a little nuts.
+1. But it does beat dying.
(And I'm glad you're okay, Mac.)

That leaves the booze and the bïtches...

I have just discovered I can save almost four whole dollars by ordering my filet o fish with large fries and a sweet tea as individual pieces instead of as a meal.
Math.
Demand it.

Well, that sucks. Hope that doesn't end up being a problem for you.

we have a batch for the base of cape fear punch sitting in the fridge. it is a fifth of rye whiskey, half a fifth of Jamaican rum, half a fifth of cognac, and a fifth of sweet green tea(made with raw sugar), and the zest of four lemons. when we get ready to drink it we mix in half a liter of club soda, and a bottle of sparkling wine/champagne and the juice of lemons. Just to weaken the punch a bit.

So I had to be the bad guy again.....
My husband and I are moving to Glasgow Scotland next year, we were both looking forward to the big move, the exciting new travel plans and all. However his sister, is now too a point were she can no longer support herself and her 1 year old daughter. We already send quite a bit of money her way, but it now looks she is going to move with us, mainly because we will be both making very good wages and career options. So now we are both to be working toward very good careers with a little girl in the house and his sister Kate. I had to put my foot down and make it conditional, I said that I have no problem helping to raise the child nor helping his sister, but if she is going to be totally financially dependent on us she has to go to school and get training in something to get her a job. I made it very apparent that she is to get into a school program by the end of our first school semester period there, and once she is working she is to find her own place. Even after that point both my husband and I have no problem supplementing her income to make sure everything will be fine, even babysitting when needed. But this this is also our time in our life where we want to have fun and relax, and we shouldn't have to sacrifice all of it.

Morning everyone. Trying to resist urge to hide instead of getting ready to go to work.
Alas, I'm trying to move back to PA in the next month or so.
That is, if companies I interview with would actually TELL ME if I'm hired or not... Professional courtesy is dead.
+1!
The house rental market out here is insanely hyperactive too. The property management firms don't even bother to call people back to let them know someone else got the house. Some times they don't even show up for showings.
I'm amazed not only by the low standards are getting lower every day, but also by how we just kind of seem to accept it as expected.

Trust me, if I had ANY other job offer, or if this job didn't feel like a perfect fit, I would've written them off months (yes, MONTHS) ago.

One of the things that worries me about this job market is the number people with advanced degrees that I know that don't have regular full time work. If a PhD and a top secret security clearance doesn't basically guarantee a steady and substantial paycheck what does it take?

*sigh* my son is one of those people too *sigh*
What a pain. Hope it works out soon!

I could come over to visit. Feed me some haggis and she'll move out pretty quick. Of course, you two might as well. And any neighbors... But it should be safe to come back in a few weeks. ;)
BTW, Glasgow is beautiful.

Overqualified, possibly, depending upon the job needs. I would never hire a PhD for one of my tech positions, even in a down economy, because I'd assume they would take off at the first better offer that came along.

Meh. I have this thing about breathing. I likes it. Epinephrine isn't too much worse than the reaction I have to albuterol on those occasions when I've taken it too fast. And since I'm the one who has to give myself the shot if I have a problem on account of all the folks around me having needle phobias, it's probably a good thing I don't have any hangups about it.

It's the convulsions and preparing to die that bothers me.

True, but it's not like he's looking for tech positions. Of course a lot of managers out here are scared to hire people who are more knowledgeable than them too.

I prefer Skittles. It's so wrong.
I really like sour Skittles.
I went to the grocery store hungry last night and found myself leaving with five packages of various candies. I got Starburst, Skittles (sour, of course), Lemonheads (the chewy kind), Bottlecaps, and Reese's Pieces. That doesn't include all of the other food, some of which was actually good for me, I left with that I didn't expect to buy. But at least the chances of me going hungry in the next week or two is nil.

Of course, the reason I like Valeros has more to do with his swordsmanship than anything else.
