Television

classic show with a classic D&D storyline!

Linky

The way in which Moss uses D&D as a tool to give Roy closure from his break-up.

Just saw it and was going to post about it myself - absolutely genius! Best role-playing on telly ever! :-)

Eiffel Tower!

Grand Lodge

Same here. Just watched it. I'm so glad this show got another season :)

Ruddy Mysterious!

And of course:

Moss is talking about roleplaying games

Jen: Is this something to do with sex?
Moss: Far from it, Jen!

Do you know what that slang means? I just urban dictionaried it. Makes the episode even funnier!

Hope this is coming to BBC America soon. It probably won't, given its Channel 4 origins. In any event, the site blocks Americans from seeing the show, so I guess it's time to wait for the DVD.

My girlfriend has all of the previous IT Crowd series on DVD, and we watch them semi-regularly (along with Spaced, Hyperspace, Father Ted, etc.) on her region-free DVD player.

Bliss. :)

BBC America carries some Channel 4 content, so you never know. You might also like Miranda and Not Going Out.

And maybe Black Books, Free Agents, No Heroics and Green Wing.

Here to help.

Just watched it and wow you were right! Very good return for a series I like. :)

The whole D&D thing was well done, didn't feel offensive at all which made me happy.

<choke!> ROFL! I ...assumed... it was just...

What can I say - Linehan is a genius! Next he'll have the wire spider in there :-) (see Roger's Profanisaurus)

Grand Lodge

I can easily imagine some of these lines becoming a part of the culture of things gamers can't help but quote during a session.

For example:

Spoiler:

Suit: "It seems gay."

Moss: "Are dragons gay Phil? Mighty warrior priests wielding golden staves- I suppose their gay too?"

"Here are your character sheets. John 1, you're a unicorn man. John 2, you're a wood faerie. And Phil, you're the gypsy assassin Esmerelda!"

I know! I started off thinking "Here we go, another lazy insult at a niche hobby with image problems" but as it turned out there were some light-hearted jokes which weren't offensive (to me anyway) and then it actually worked as a session!

I think Moss would make a great convention DM:

"Phil, you're the gypsy assassin Esmerelda!" (thanks ithuriel)

Grand Lodge

Those outside the UK can stream this episode here

It gives a poker pop up when you click play, fair warning. I imagine the link will work anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks.

The first show of the first season was hit or miss for me, but from there on it became a love affair. I can't wait to get at the fourth season. I heard they skipped a year because they tried at an American pilot using only the Moss character. The show failed, and worse, without Moss they couldn't shoot the Britcom.

Netflix carries the first 3 seasons on streaming.
