Hey Folks,
Now that Paizocon is done - where you hopefully talked about some of these things - are we going to get to see some new and juicy additions to the Paizo catalog soon?
I am dying to see what is in the works for 2011.
Thanks
we know the next AP is in Ustalav and there will a hardcover called Ultimate Magic in the Spring. There are doing a Tien Xie book I think sometime in 2011. And I'm pretty sure you will get the Bestiary 3

All they have said for sure about Tian Xia is that it will be the next world book, which might be out next year (I hope so). If they do release Tian Xia expect the Jade Regent AP to come out then as well.

Tian Xia is going to be a hardback. The new Campaign Setting: World Guide - the Inner Sea isn't just an updated edition of the campaign setting, it's the first in a line of campaign setting hardback sourcebooks updated for Pathfinder. World Guide - Tian Xia is next up, and we were led to believe at the APG Banquet that it would be crunchier than your average campaign setting book.

Not necessarily.
Exactly what form the Tian Xia book takes is still VERY much up in the air.

I would think a generic asian themed hardback with go along with a Tien Xia sourcebook and I'm not sure the Paizo folks would want to dedicate two hardbacks to that genre
Perhaps a hardback on Tian Xie would include 20 pages or so on new base classes, 30 + pages on monsters and another bunch of pages on magic and a bunch on new items/weapons

I agree with Lilith make it a Hardcover. and get on it too we expect it in just over a year. ;) I am sure Lilith will give you cookies if you do finish in that time.:)

I would LOVE to make this a hardcover book... but in order to be a hardcover, a book needs a relatively high minimum page count. Which, depending on what else we've got scheduled for that time, might make it impossible to make a book big enough to justify hardcover status.
Anyway... we're still a LONG way away from having to announce anything about that kind of stuff. Now is the exact right time to let us know what kind of content you'd want in a Tian Xia book though, that's for sure!

Well, I don't really know what we'll get in revised campaign setting book, but it seems logical for the next publication to be titled Beyond the Inner Sea and to contain detailed information on Tian Xia, Vudra, Azlant and Sarusan. I think that's enough for hard cover.

Well depending on how you do it, I would like to see:
Oriental Archtypes of the core classes (or at least the ones that are appropriate)
Oriental Armor and Weapons
The 4 page write up on each of the countries/areas in Tian Xia.
New feats and spells
possibly new skills if appropriate
Cultural breakdowns that give good examples of life in different areas.
That is at least a start.
Would there be a chance we see an Orietal Adventures type book as well or would it all be in one book (if and when it is done)?

That would depend entirely on whether the Tian Xia book would be primarily a Golarion-focused resource as a companion to a more generic "Oriental Adventures"-style book, or if it would be a self-contained Asian-themed sourcebook.
And it probably should have its own thread either way...

We're not going to split them up.
We've weighed the pros and cons of all approaches to this, and I think we're fairly certain that we don't want to do a "generic" "Asian" rulebook _and_ an "Asian" setting as two different books. For lots and lots of reasons, it seems wiser to take care of all that stuff between the same covers.

Oriental Adventures rules book should be kept separated from fluff book describing Tian Xia and possibly other regions.
I agree. A Tian Xia book could have maybe a few pages dealing with Oriental flavored variants of the core classes, maybe for the APG base classes as well. Weapons and armor of course would have to be covered, but these could easily be 'fluff' modifications to standard equipment, which would make it easy to mix with the rest of the world.
I know that's not gonna be real popular with some, but it makes PRPG games that use only the Core book and this setting book possible. And a setting neutral Oriental book would then be optional but not needed for expansion of the setting.
Edit: Aaaand, The Mona™ comes in and renders my entire post moot in less time than it took me to type it.
Nevermind.

I think that's enough for FOUR hardcovers, frankly! :-)

In addition to all of this, i'd want rules for martial arts that allowed for different feeling styles - and that would be accessible to more than just monks.

I'd like to see:
- Cultural differences among different regions of Tian Xia.
- Asian themed monsters/legendary figures (JJ, this could be your chance to stat up Godzilla!).
- History of the region.
- New Magic Items.
- Asian-themed traits.
- How Tian Xians view other areas of Golarian.
- Myths/Legends of Tian Xia.
- New Races.
- New Spells/Domains based on myths/legends of Tian Xia.
- Governmental/Social structure.
- New weapons/equipment.
Just a few thoughts...

I know some people might be upset, but I think doing the book so that it is a self contained game would be an even better move, i.e. Paizo version of a self contained d20 L5R without the Rokugan. The big reason a lot of people probably don't pick up an oriental setting is just for that reason; it's a setting for a game system they don't like or don't want to buy a bunch of books for. If you think about it there are very few self contained oriental games out there; L5R, Qin, and if you can find it Dragon Fist are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. If done this way though it would probably be best to try and work it as a rules light system if taken by itself. When AEG did the Burning Sands book for L5R they worked it to be a stand alone but don't hesitate to tell you that more expanded rules are found in L5R.

Which if done as a stand alone, rules light version with maybe a variant spell system, would probably help reach that page count. Present just enough rules to make play viable and then the rest of the book is setting details and everything related to the classes.
