Assassination Attempts (spoilers)

Kingmaker

Are there any NPC characters that can become leaders that cant be killed off or shouldnt be killed off as they are to be used for future books?

The reason I ask is if an assassination attempt succeeds on an NPC that has become a leader of the kingdom, say for example Jhod, is their a possibility that it can have an effect on the future books if they were supposed to have a bigger role later on.

Basically my question is are the NPC's that become leaders able to be killed off and are expendable without it causing an issue with later story(ies) or are their certain NPCs that it would be better not to kill off?

As always I appreciate the assistance.

I am not sure which thread it was, but James had mentioned that none of the NPC's are really expanded on in later parts of the AP. This was to try and further enhance the sandboxiness of the campaign. They knew not every group would take a liking to, or keep around, any specific NPC, so the GM would be free to remove or add as they liked without affecting the storyline. Sorry I can't find the thread right now, but it was a few weeks back.

Thank you very much. I attempted to find if it had been mentioned before but was unable to do so. Again thanks for taking the time to help me out.

About the extent of future planning that I've seen in the AP thus far is more of a "if NPC X is used to work with the party they could be of use in the in X way" As far as I can tell you won't be left actorless in any major denuoement moments.

Oleg could die of cholera in #31 and you won't have to replace him with a long lost twin brother.
