Kingmaker Map Folio

Kingmaker

Hey folks!

Loving the Kingmaker AP. It's truly spectacular and in the vein of all those late nights spent 20 odd years ago doing all of this ourselves. We've run campaigns with the intent of having PCs become powers in their own right, but the work is gone and the fun is amped because of the creativity and writing prowess of the Paizo gang.

But enough with the buttering up.

I'm mainly posting to ask for status on (or de-facto request) a Kingmaker Map Folio, since the entire AP is highly map driven. Is this something that is planned, or are you considering it so huge an area that it will be better handled in the new campaign setting book? Seems like either could be the case.

As a tangent, I would pay at least $20-$30 for large (48"sq?), well marked, full color regional maps. I used to be really into Hârnmaster, and that game had regional/kingdom supplements that included maps that could be laid out side by side to create a massive contiguous world map. Any plans for that sort of thing?

Thanks,
Cliff

Or, as with Kingdoms of Kalamar, a bound Atlas, full of color maps cover to cover, complete with reference grid. That would be awesome!

Would something like this work?

This discussion should be moved to the Chronicles forum, but in any case the Kingmaker Poster Map Folio is scheduled to be released in July.

EDIT: Doh! Ninjad by Sniggevert.

Just found it on Amazon with the an 03 August release, so probably a week or so before that in actuality. Thank for the quick response everyone.

The August 3 release date means that the product is scheduled to arrive at Amazon on that date. That means the product, when shipped, will generally not arrive until at the very earliest, August 5, 2010, even if pre-ordered. In all likelihood, it means a few days after that - probably Monday, August 9 or even later.

Thursday, August 5, 2010 is, not coincidentally, the same day that Gencon begins and the date that the product in question will be on sale at the convention at Paizo's booth at Gencon.

These release dates are not accidental and the extra margin generated throgh direct sales to fans at Gencon forms a significant component in Paizo's overall business plan, just as it does with every other game mftr in the hobby games marketplace. Indeed, almost every single one of Paizo's competitors, excepting WotC, relies upon the extra margin generated via retail sales at Gencon to succeed in their business and keep the doors open and lights on.

I would not be betting on something being available the week before, if I were you. That's a bet almost certain to end in disappointment as a release available before Gencon opens -- at a discount off retail -- is money out of Paizo's own pocket.

Actually, it's listed as one of the early July releases, so should be available in about 3 weeks I believe. They're doing 2 releases in July this year. The early one for the items that would normally be released in July, and then the late one that should get things out to folks about the same time as GenCon hits. Of course this means there will be no August releases, as that's really all that the late July release is.
