RSS Duplicates after website feature updates

Hey folks,

Anyone have any thoughts about why every time a new feature is added to the website (Pathfinder Tales Tab this time around) I seem to get 4 of every RSS message? Anyone else run into this?

I'd like to say that this is an isolated incident, but it's happened about a dozen times now as new features get introduced.

I've been using FeedDemon (currently version 3.1.0.20) since the start, and the only resolution seems to be to unsubscribe from the feeds, and re-subscribe ... which, well, sucks.

I use Google Reader and have never had anything like that happen. They only time I get duplicates is when a thread goes to the Archives.

Is THAT why that happens? I wondered why I suddenly sometimes had 55 new messages from a months old thread!

I haven't had the OP's problem though. Also using Google Reader.

Interesting ... FeedDemon links into Google Reader for account management. Wonder if it has something to do with that?

Just seems oddly co-incidental that it happens at the same time new features become available.

If I had to guess I'd say that it more likely doesn't have anything to do with the new features but rather with the fact that we moved a bunch of forums around at the same time. Every time we do this I have a todo item to set things up so old bookmarks and feed URLs don't get broken, but it seems there are never enough hours available before the deadline arrives.

Is the "archiving dumps every post in the thread info the feed" problem a known issue, Gary?

Yes, that's being worked on but not at a very high priority.

Ahh ... makes sense, definitely co-incidental then. Appreciate you taking the time to spell out what's going on in the background.

I'll maybe look into Google Reader as an alternative for now, since the feedback seems to be I might not see this issue there.
