Alternate Knowledge Domain Power

Homebrew and House Rules

Locate Your Stuff:

You may cast Locate Object as a 1st level spell to find objects you have made or magically marked. This spell becomes a Domain Spell you may cast in place of another prepared spell.
If the item is no longer marked or has been destroyed the spell fails.

All other details are as the spell.

What do people think?

OK, to be clear, this is replacing the Lore Keeper "Touch of Knowledge" ability?
(I always thought that was a stinker, even if I liked the rest of the domain)

It probably needs more clarity on what is eligible, since Clerics don't have Arcane Mark... I would say permanent items either physically or magically CRAFTED by you, possibly that you've already carried for 24 hours (which prevents using simple Standard Action, 0th or 1st level spells to 'mark' items as tracking beacons).

Only thing I would change would be the range, which I think should be shorter for such a low-level ability... Either Medium Range (100+10/level) or at most, half of what Detect Object normally is (Long Range, 400 +40/level * 1/2 = 200 +20/level)

Honestly, I think just the standard 3+WIS modifier usages/day would be fine for such an ability, but if you're going for approach you have, I'd just simplify by saying that it is Spontaneously Castable, including Domain Spell slot, as if it were a 1st level spell.
