Lets face facts. DR WHO has become an annoying 45 minutes of "Look at me! I can do this!" Dr...Huh? That sucked. We can do better and we deserve better. The greatest DR WHO was its gothic Horror. The Cabinet of Wen Chiang gothic. Hartnel vs Dalek gothic. Those exoskeletal aliens with their ribs on the outside vs Tom Baker gothic. So what 10 gothic ideas would make Dr Who great?
1. The mad god of Time
An old David Tennant begins stalking previous assistants and harvesting their skins for his viewing pleasure. Their Brains are plugged into the Destination targeting matrix to allow him to travel up his own time line and skins are streached across frames using their own intestines as twine. Much of the Tardis has been replaced with something Organic. The Piston driving the Tardis is a disected leg pushing up and down. The Tardis is a gothic horror.

2. The infection
The Doctors assistant is snatched by an insane loner Dalek while they are exploring some sleepy little world. When she is returned with no memory of the event, She is infected with a genetic virus that is turning her into a Davros Personality type over several episodes. She starts exhibiting greatly increased intelligence and betrays the Doctor in an encounter stealing part of the Tardis (including the secondary console room). Suddenly there are two Tardis and the new one is under the control of a woman who makes the Master look boyscout.

This.
So you mean DR WHO accidentally kills the cult leader known only as Jesus and Christianity ceases to exist? That would create a future where Britain remains a post Roman-Polytheist. Likewise, Islam fails to emerge in it's shadow.

Personally I want to see an episode with every modern Dr. in it. You just do not have Eccleston until the very end when Mccgann who is the idiot who caused the time rift dies creating the moment and the time lock and becomes Eccleston who sees Rose with Tennant and decides at that time to go back and save her.

So basically a newer version of "The Two/Three/Five Doctors" episodes?

Yes, but it needs to add to the modern myth that has been built up.

A BIG BALL OF STIRNGS
The Doctor woke to his twelfth regeneration. The young boy opened his eyes and sat up on the medi-bed.
"Well?" It was his first incarnation. The Child looked past the old Doctor at the mass of Strings being probed by the Quantum Interference Detectors.
"Well what? I was unable to extract anyone but you..." The old man was furious.
"You were supposed to put me in, not take me out." The young Doctor looked down at his feet and wiggled his toes.
"There might be another option."
"I'll go in as the Master." He laid back down on the medi-bed.
