Placing a generic PC into the Pathfinder world

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I have a 5th LV witch character that was initially built for a generic world, but I'd like to give him a place in the pathfinder universe.

The fellow was the son of minor nobility, living a life of ease. He rebelled against his parents (i.e. pain in the ass kid), and instead of worshipping the gods of the nobles, or even the local pantheon, instead worshipped Calistria. He found some of the servants were foreigners who, in secret, would worship this goddess. He joined the servants in worship, diving right into their ethnic/exotic worldview (take that parents!). Well, these servants were witches who worshipped her (i.e. they are witches who worship the goddess due to their home culture, rather then priests dedicated to her). So, he became a witch who had a dose of a foreign culture mixed into his ‘class’.

As a side note - as a child, a circus traveled through the area and the nobles attended. The spoiled brat (me), insisted on getting a pet monkey, which the circus didn't want to part with, but with pressure from nobles, a young (untrained) monkey was given to the brat.

Well - it has bonded with me since childhood, and is my familiar.

Once he was discovered to be a witch, he was locked in a tower by his family (for help / deprogramming / inquisition), but the servants helped him escape. Since then, he has abandoned his name, renaming himself after a foreign word he found on a book cover. "Toltec” He doesn't know what it means, but he gives a new definition whenever he is asked about it.

He is quite intelligent, but he is so sure of his genius that he often leaps before he looks, blurts out answers to everything - even if he has no knowledge, and while he doesn't admit to being from a noble family, he is still just as spoiled. He is aware he gives out bullshit answers, but it keeps the rubes busy while he tries the figure things out logically.

I haven’t given him his true name yet, as I wanted to link it to a culture.

Any ideas on which culture / region / nationality? That and feedback would be great!

Uh-oh. Did I post this in the wrong thread? If so, please re-direct it / tell me were to post it.

The RPG forum probably isn't the best place for this thread...but I think a Sargavan background might be a good place to start looking.

Drats, I was afraid of that (not the right place)! Is there a good/proper place for this kind of question on these boards?

As an aside, thank you for the feedback, I'm going to check out that link... on to Sargarva!

Well, your thread did get moved to the appropriate board - Pathfinder -> General Discussion is the best place for a world setting related question, while the Pathfinder RPG board is better for rules questions.

Glad to hear you're reading up on Sargava - if it appeals to you, there's a Sargavan companion book coming out to tie in with the Adventure Path released in August, Serpent's Skull.
