Passage of time, damage and healing

Scarab Sages 1/5

When characters suffer ability damage and need lesser or full restoration after the adventure, is it assumed time passes or must they pay for that repair?

Also, how about the shadow for a Shadowdancer, it says in the rules it takes 30 days to return, how is that figured?

There is no official amount, or minimum amount, of time that passes between scenarios. You could go to a convention and play 5 scenarios over the weekend and the five locations for the scenarios could be all over the Inner Sea, but time passage in between each does not matter. So basically, if something can heal naturally, then that healing is considered done by the time your character starts the next scenario after the one where the damage occurred. The same goes for anything that can only be used once a day or week or even month. You will have it available again for the next scenario, so far as I can tell. Now if your character has something wrong that can only be cured by magic, then that will not go away in between scenarios.

Thank you, I have to fix some sheets as we charged the characters for lesser restoration..

The key operative word you used is "Ability Damage" not "Ability Drain". Conditions which heal naturally over time (and this has been clarified to include Poisons and Disease) are played out at the end of the scenario.

Ability damage heals normally and therefore completely disappears between scenarios.

Ability damage is permanent and therefore would not heal between scenarios without healing.

Disease and Poison should be rolled out as a series of saving throws at the end of the session. Should you feel like you're going to die due to poor rolling, you'll probably want to pay for remove disease, otherwise the disease heals up naturally (obviously Mummy Rot falls into a different category).

I think he meant to write "Ability drain" for the second one...

I did. That's what I get for trying to be helpful while getting my Gen Con registration stuff together.
