Looking up at the plinths atop the outer wall of the keep, it seems clear that they where designed to hold something high enough to be seen from outside of the keep, unfortunately from the angle you are looking from on the street, it is hard to tell what that something might be. On the plinth to the right of the entrance a series of scuff marks are visible on the edges, perhaps something that happened when something was manoeuvred onto or off of the plinth.
Are you just looking from the street at the moment?

This all sounds familiar... you do remember that the plinths are on top of the fortified walls (which take a DC25 check to climb half way up)? Or is your plan to go inside the keep and find a ladder or stairs up?
And please can everyone one is going through the gates up to the keep itself make a Perception check (I'll take the one Nik just rolled for her).

Perception;1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 (Once Zeldin is inside the gate.)
Nik, I know you are eager to get in there, but we do not have much daylight left and I think we will have an easier time if we wait until morning antd try then.
Zeldin takes a walk around the keep to see if he sees anything unusual that was missed in the gloom of night.
Perception;1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Nik, did you see that? Something down there was watching us!Zeldin says with alarm in his voice.
Zeldin starts picking up stones from the ground, and muttering and gesturing over them briefly, illuminates one and throws it down the grate to see better, then another, and another not stopping until nearly a dozen have been launched into the inky darkness.
Does Zeldin see anything more?

As the gates swing open, Garion is confronted by the sight of carnage.
Around the courtyard there is scattered debris from now unrecognisable objects, twisted metal and splintered wood lay amidst shattered glass and cracked stone. Three bodies lay broken on the ground in the middle of the wreckage, each battered heavily, with thin cuts and blistering scars covering their exposed flesh. The doors into the tower itself hang from the hinges, swaying slightly in the breeze.

Can NIK tell how long ago they have been killed? like from the rottingness, stink and all that?
1d20 ⇒ 2
and one more thing ... when NIK sees the mangled dead bodies (it IS the first time she sees that!) she ... SCREAMS!!!!!
"YHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!"

Two of the bodies are unarmed, wearing what looks to be the remains of official uniforms, next to the third lays a short sword, and he wears shredded leather armour beneath a tattered tabbard. It isn't clear when they where killed from this distance.
playing a dead hot corpse
Pun intended? :)
