So, the long-suspected election date - may 6th - has just been confirmed
so, on may 7th, we may have a new prime-minister, or possibly a bit longer, if we get the anticipated hung parliment
what's the choice?
Currently sitting Moron - Gordon
Rich Millionaire who wants his cabinet to be all his old school and uni friends - David Cameron
not much hope of actually winning, but potential king-maker - Nick Clegg
this is a r4eal "least bad" option election. really fills you with confidence

How about a comment that discriminates between Conservative and Labour parties, 'cos that defines both?
:)
The Conservatives don't have Peter Mandelson or Tony Blair. How's that?
Unfortunately, the Conservatives do have David Cameron, who I'm not impressed by. Shame they didn't elect a decent leader.

And guess what. No matter who gets elected, virtually nobody outside of the UK will give a damn.We are an irrelevence a ex imperial has been trying to keep ourselves believing we actually have some influence in the world..if the politicians would actually accept that we are a minnow in todays world and scale back their overly ambitious plans in regards to that then we might actually get somewhere.

According to the recent BBC documentary the Foreign Office may be regarded as irrelevent here in the UK, but still gets a good deal of respect in Euroland (and my own surmise is that might have had something to do with a British peson being put in charge of EU foreign policy, a few months back).
The BBC itself is a British institution with some presence and weight on the world stage, given the scope of its international coverage, mostly unbiased reporting, and occasional exports such as Doctor Who.Granted the current crop of politicians may not command much attention (probably due to some of the things a recent prime-minister got upto) although I suspect Lord Mandelson has some influence on the world stage given his abilities to hobnob the rich and famous which the national media occasionally make a point of printing stories about. (I doubt you get invited onto some of those yachts unless you're considered someone very important and/or charming.)
(Sort of jokingly), the problem is the England football team, I suspect. It hasn't done much since 1966 and every time it loses, it gets millions of UK football supporters down and leads to mumbling into beers of 'we can't even beat xxx now, look how wretched a country we are... '

The UK? Isn't that just another part of France?

I heard somewhere yesterday (Have I Got News For You?) that the French want the English Channel renamed the English-French Pond.
... I hope that was a joke ...
Well, we could always restore the western half of France to the British crown, circa Henry II's height. That would work too I think. :D
No, that's serious. Stupid, but serious.
