So Ummm... No April Fool Stuff?

I love April Fools in the RPG industry. We tend to go all out. Last year, Paizo displayed the d21 logo ("Its one better.") and then showed the cover art for the PFRPG. Wizards one year did My Little Pony the RPG and another year Complete Mount, and another year an OD&D page.

But ... Am I missing it? I haven't seen anyone do anything with April Fools? Was it postponed until April 2, just as a joke on me?

Well, give them some time. Perhaps they will be doing this year's April Fools joke next year.

The discounted T-shirts on the store blog are actually an April Fools joke. Of course people might not get the punch line until they look at their receipt and see they were charged triple what the shirts normally cost.

Yeah. I'm disappointed too. On the plus side, I bought Rick Astley's CD "Whenever You Need Somebody" and put it in the CD player of my wife's car. Track 1: "Never Gonna Give You Up."

This is a sure sign of a struggling economy: No April Fool's Joke.

Yeah, even the Wizards site's low-key this year. Normally they re-do the entire site, but this year it's only three articles: an ad for Dice Wipes, an ad for Roll-playing for Role-playing and a list of powers based off famous movie quotes.

And, it's not even that funny.

There are a few April Fools Jokes going on around the Web.

I agree, they didn't really put as much time or effort into it this year unlike many years past.

Holidays in 2010 just aren't that big of a deal apparently. I don't even get an extra day off from school for Easter.

I believe this video is relevant to this discussion. It's really a shame that I haven't seen more jokes today. I could use something to laugh at.

They might yet have some plans, but I suspect that for various reasons there just wasn't time to construct an elaborate April Fool's joke this year.

In lieu of said joke Paizo's offering 35% off everthing in the store!

Spoiler:
April Foo'ls. *sigh*

Long live the Smurf of April!

What's Paizo's excuse? ;-)

I remember talking to the PostMonster about it a couple months ago, but he's been pretty busy doing stuff like the new site-search and a whole heap of stuff that makes our system run smoother. I'll be honest, I'm slightly sad not to see something totally awesome for April Fools, but I am incredibly happy with the awesome things he's been doing for the order system that will last much longer than just one day.

Now he has a whole additional year to code the stuff we talked about before :)

The World of Warcraft has some good jokes on it. The one about a new EPEEN bar showing above characters heads to represent your gear score is pretty good.

Like any of that stuff is important. :-P

We're all too busy for jokey jokes this year.

Sorry!

In good news, the GameMastery Guide and From Shore to Sea shipped today, so all of our hard work is good for something! :)

Honestly I was so busy at work today that I forgot it was April's Fool Day (April is a busy girl, you know).

And in many ways I think the seriousness of the recession has just knocked the silly humor right out of me for a while. I just want to make some money and forget everything else. (work, eat, sleep, rinse and repeat)

But - with the seriousness of the recession - rarely has the "silly humor" been more important. :(
