Victorian Era D20 / Pathfinder world?

Gamer Life General Discussion

Looking to start up a game in the next two or three months and I'd love to use a pre-existing world rather than create one from scratch. Are there any good ones out there that have a Victorian era feel to them?

It's not d20... but I've heard some positive things about Victoriana...

Actually, neither were mine, but I assumed you were looking for setting and background, not adventures, and good fluff is good fluff regardless of the system for which it was written.

Actually Masque is D20. And I hghly reccomend it for inspiration's sake. The classes ar horribly uninspiring and skill list can be yoinked nearly as is (it has very little that needs to be changed).

Gaslight, If you are looking at the extreme end of the scope, you might want to look at Dragonstar and Dragonmech. As search on mamazon.com should turn these up. Also, Midnight from Fantasy Flight captures the flavor of it qell too (imo).

But since the OP was being specific about Victorian d20, I figure the ones I originally linked to would probably be his best bet with regard to making the mechanics a bit more seamless w/o too much work.

Was not. OP was very much not specific about mechanics, but just asked for a Victorian "feel" ... aka "fluff". Never says "d20" anywhere in the post.

Besides, I still argue that mechanics are pretty much irrelevant for setting, except when they are inexorably tied together with concepts that are so setting-specific that they are difficult to replicate with "standard" rules from other settings.

Mechanics are for adventures, "fluff" and "flavor" is for settings.

IMHO,

R.

Uhm, did you check the title of the thread?

P.S. In my own defense, I generally scan through the main page, Tab several threads that interest me and then go back and read them and Reply. Today was a busy day of reading, so I'm sorry if I forget the details of the Subject line by the time I get to reading the post.

Sorry, too, Urizen ... R.

GURPS Steampunk is brilliant.

Victorian Age Vampire is the best of the OWOD books by far.

Castle Falkinestine is ok.

There is also Deadlands if you after that western feel.

I second Etherscope. Very fun world setting.

$3 for the core book! And a free adventure! I cannot say no - so I just ordered this.

Any thoughts/recommendations on some of the other Etherscope books?

Jeez. You'd think if anyone could go in and just correct the original post it would be ...

;-)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to be looking into all of these.

Wahooo I have had my writing edited by a Paizo dude, does that afford me some minor celeb status - ZZZ grade maybe?

;-)
