A new Ranger Combat Style

Homebrew and House Rules

A friend and I will soon be running a campaign together, and we came up with some changes to some classes, notably the ranger. we added a new combat style called "Wasteland Hunter" that gives some abilities instead of bonus feats, with the tradeoff being less flexibility with this style. the world we are running has no magic, so we are using the sneak attack no-spells ranger variant from KQ 10.

The actual combat syle is as follows:

spoiler:

2nd level
Poison Use

6th level
Wisdom bonus to knowledge (faovred enemies) and Initiative (as the Inquisitor features "Monster Lore" and "Cunning Initiative")

10th level
Uncanny Dodge

14th level
Improved Uncanny Dodge

18th level
Sneak attack increases from 5d6 to 5d8

Let me know what you think.

Cool!

I think you mean issue 11 of KQ though ;)

I'm anxious to hear about your campaign - it sounds interesting!

You are right, I goofed!
Issue 11 of Kobold Quarterly has the Sneak attack/no spells ranger

I always wondered, myself, why rangers didn't have more than two fighting styles. It's not as if there aren't more than two ways of fighting after all ... I would happily add:

Unarmed (very thematic for oriental compaigns or 'monastic' types, this would include the Superior Unarmed Strike feat from ToB)

Sword & Board or Defensive (primarily shield feats)

Mighty (power attack feat tree)

Natural (for Shifters, would include shifter feats)

Finesse (Finesse, Improved Critical etc.)

Stealthy (instead of feats gain one sneak attack dice at each combat style increment)

Skirmishing (Dodge & mobility feat tree)
