Ghorazagh

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Will be the Ghorazagh race (presented in the AP "Mother of Flies") expanded in future products (I'm specially interested in his underdark domain and the brood war and hive lord subspecies)?

Thanks in advance and please forgive my poor english.

At this point we don't have any plans to do much with the Ghorazagh. That doesn't mean one of our authors won't do something with them we didn't plan for, of course... just that we have no specific plans for them in the future.

Thank you JJ.

By the way, I can't find the "shape blood" ability in the melee statistics, it's an errata or I'm forgetting something?

Ha! Cool. Glad you like these guys. "Shape blood" is a remnant from an earlier version, just ignore it. Though if these guys do hit with all four tentacles they can attach and do all sorts of other nasty things.

The ability itself just turned into a flavor element discussed in their Ecology section, about how they take blood from other creatures and use it to create scabrous structures in their hives. Kind of like the way we see the aliens making their carapace-like hives in Aliens, but all scabby.

Thanks mr Schneider ;)

Really I love them, I'm an enthusiastic of the cool aberrations (abolleth and mindflayer are my prefered) and the Ghorazagh are really cool. I will save one of my pathfinder campaigns (no an AP, a sandpoint campaign) with them ^^

By the way, how typical are the arcanes in their society? And... is factible a colaboration with individuals of other races?

No prob. I wrote these guys up so I'm of course elated to see someone take a shine to them. I'm pretty pleased with how they came out, though I'm still not satisfied with the name. But maybe I'm just picking nits.

Anyway. I doubt that there's much traditional magic in their society - as in, not a lot of wizards reading books. Nothing wrong with sorcerers though. With the ability to fly, great strength, and the capacity to manipulate their environment I don't expect spellcasting has as great a draw to these aberrations as it does for many humanoids. As they're pretty alien and I like the idea of them having a society based on hive thinking and especially merciless and communal reactions to most problems. They have an almost locust like society, and where there's one, more are likely to follow.

As for collaboration with other races, while an individual ghorazaghs might be convinced to speak with and learn from other creatures, the larger communities are totally uninterested in anything besides feeding and spreading their gory hive territories. A scout might well infiltrate or join a group to gather information, later sharing the details they've gleaned from the experience with their entire hive, using it to better assault their prey. Ghorazaghs have a communal society, with little understanding of or care for individuals (even themselves or other lesser members of their kind) which would make communication with these creatures weird and confusing - as one might not understand concepts of personal motives or self preservation.

If you're looking for inspiration on how to play ghorazaghs, think of them as the aliens from Aliens meet the Borg from Star Trek meet metroids from Metroid - ravenous, communal, and life hungry, all with numbers and intelligence enough to make them a considerable and terrifying threat.

I'm very grateful mr. Scheneider, thank you very much for all (particulary for this monster).
