The new player in our group is going to be a Shoanti druid. He and the Shoanti alchemist's player have really fallen in love with the fluff for that area and culture.
As Yet Unnamed Druid has a problem though. He's looking for a Huge animal he can turn into eventually, and he wants it to fit into the Cinderlands. I'd like to find some fitting candidates for him without having to just advance one of the Large Cindercritters. Any ideas?
Besides baby purple worms. *shudder*

The best choice for huge animals from the cinderlands is aurochs—I know the Bestiary lists them as large, but the ones in the Cinderlands DO grow to be Huge. And although its gargantuan, a roc would be a good choice as well.
Check out the article on the Cinderlands in Pathfinder Adventure Path #10 for some more inspiration. Pages 64–65 list several native animals, none of which are currently really attached to actual stat blocks. Of these animals, the ones who'd make good Huge animals are:
Aurochs (see above; advance to Huge)
Horned spirestalker (Huge lizard)
Hmm. There's really not a LOT of huge animals to choose from in the Cinderlands, honestly.
The really REALLY iconic Huge Cinderland creature is, of course, the bulette...

I had just glanced over it, and somehow missed the spirestalkers being huge. I'm kicking myself for that.

I don't even want to think about the consequences of making that available. :D
BBEG: THERE WAS A DOOR!
Thanks!
And seriously guys, hats off. Those two players really love the Shoanti stuff.

I love aurochs so much.
After years and years of made-up fantasy primordial bison, Pathfinder finally goes back to the source.
Now if we can just get the spikes and plates off of our cavebears...
I wouldn't personally make huge aurochs in the cinderlands, but rather make them all hardcore and cinder-proof. Extra HD and the like. The idea of a cow the size of an elephant in a land with not much to eat wouldn't play at my table (which has higher than the normal ratio of picky biologists to normals).
