DESCRIPTION

These small obsidian tokens come in a variety of polygonal shapes, each etched with a complex magical rune and often strung on a bracelet or necklace. A sigil token holds a single spell but unlike a scroll does not contain the magical energy required to complete it. Instead, sigil tokens rely on the magical power of the user to produce the spell effect held.

When a spontaneous spellcaster refreshes spells, she may use a number of sigil stones of total spell levels no more than her casting ability modifier. For 24 hours thereafter, the spells held by those sigil token are considered to be on her list of known spells while the tokens are on her person. Sigil tokens holding spells not on the caster's class spell list have no effect.

The caster level of a sigil token is twice the level of its held spell.

Requirements Craft Wondrous Items, creator must expend the spell to be held as if crafting a scroll; Cost 125 gp (cantrip), 250 gp (1st), 1,000 gp (2nd), 2,250 gp (3rd), 4,000 gp (4th), 6,250 gp (5th), 9,000 gp (6th), 12,250 gp (7th), 16,000 gp (8th), 20,250 gp (9th)

Thoughts, criticisms and suggestions on balance and function are welcomed.

Addendum: I may not have been very clear. A sigil token is not expended when used.
