Ahh, not to be though. Since my wife and youngest have the summer off it kinda makes that the best time for them. Then, with budget monies only getting freed up in Q4, that really makes that time taboo. So I'm screwed either way.
The boss still has yet to respond or comment on my request, but I expect her to grant it grudgingly. She's gone 3 weeks in Sept so she gets her break too. And I'll have to cover for her whilst we'll have a slew of work to organize.
Does anyone have any idea as to what a hospital finds acceptable on a $2600 balance? I'd like to pay $200 a month, but $100 fits my broken budget better.
Pay what you can afford. In this case pay $100 or perhaps $75 per month. If it takes forever, then it takes forever.

Ditto. Hospitals I think get the shaft quite a bit and they will be VERY happy if you commit to working to pay them a regular amount every month. Basically they want to work with you and know that you are willing to pay it off rather than send it to collection agencies and ultimately write it off.

Mostly admin/clerical/data entry type stuff. I've had several interviews over the past month and a half but almost never gotten a call back.
Also, "congratulations on surviving long enough to be 1/3 dead" post. Quote my sister-in-law. >_>

They'd rather get paid then have it go into default. Most of them have learned over the years that playing hardball with that stuff doesn't get them their money. Make an agreement for 100 and overpay when you can.

About the only suggestion I can give is to keep at it, but also look into temp agencies. A lot of people get hired as permanent employees that way. And they really love it when they get someone with more than half a brain.

Yeah, my last job lasted three years and was through a temp agency. I've interviewed with several since but just had no leads. Keep trying though.

Heh, yeah I read DN some time ago. Good story, second half not quite as good as the first.
I turn 25 today. That's approximately 1/3 of "the days of a man are threescore and ten".

With that, it's not my Will save. It's (apparently) my communication skill -- I think the highest I've rolled is a '2', but I don't notice until I start seeing the responses.
(I actually look forward to the discussions there. It's a good mental excercise for me.)

I felt bad for you. I was blindsided by that stuff a few years ago and did some research into it. (Hence the reason I tried to diffuse that line as soon as I could.) For what it's worth, I got absolutely trashed on that thread very early on with evolution stuff. It was ugly. I've leaned quite a bit since then and still err.
As difficult as it may be to understand, know that they are attacking the argument and not you. (That idea is still hard for me sometimes.)

I wish I could believe that sometimes. Too often the line is crossed that that it seems you are being attacked for being ignorant to believe what you do.

Well, part of summer off with your family will be nice. It sounds like it could be the kind of fulfillment you are looking for, a sort of restoration of the soul that allows you to focus on what is important in life. This is especially needed after the trials you have went through.
For my part, I found some programs that paid for my outstanding balance, but my income was low enough I could achieve that. I am not sure if that is an option for you.
Nah. Besides there are people that need those programs. I just have a lot of debt. Poor lifestyle choices. Besides getting married young, and having 4 kids. we've been in debt forever.
On a good note, my wife is finally seeing it as the problem I've known it to be. We want to set up a 5 year program to get out from under it.
Then we can be the stable parents that take their grown children on expensive trips without using credit. :)

[shameless plug] Our credit union (where I work) supports Balance for debt management. It's free for our members so I'm not sure if there is a cost associated with it for others, but it should be rather minimal -- they get their money mostly from credit unions and not from individuals. If you don't have a place to start with, I'd suggest checking them out. [/shameless plug]

Serious note -
I wish I felt that I could post this on the Civil Religious Discussion thread without it being attacked, dismissed, or patronized.
As I sat in ICU and my darkened hospital room this year, I never felt afraid or alone. Even before I knew of the people, friends and stranger alike, praying for me. Somehow I just felt positive. Comfortable in spirit while wracked up in body. The later knowledge of support both strengthened and humbled me. It's hard to describe in scientific terms. And it goes far beyond the power of positive thinking. Biology or statistics didn't get me thru it, that knowledge did. It still does as my recovery continues. Heck, I'm not even what books would call a good Christian. Believer yes, even moreso now, but I fail the other 'tests' regularly.
Non-serious note -
How else could I have survived so long without BTTH? ;)

Thx. I'll see if our local credit unions have the same partnership. The main stumbling block we've had has been my wife's refusal to admit the problem. We seem to be getting past that. Now we just have to break bad habits. ;)

Heh. Other than being unemployed most everyone in my family is doing fairly well. My brother and I both left at eighteen and moved to Arizona (me from Texas, him from Tenn; parents relocated in the meanwhile) with only one year of relapse/moving back in on my part... this last six months has been the longest stretch I've been unemployed since, due more to lack of opportunity than effort or qualifications. People just aren't hiring.
My brother's in the same boat... and while I was able to fall back on UI, he ended up having to move in with his in-laws. At least he has his wife and her family and they're willing to help.
And my baby sister is turning 19 in July and getting married in December. Holey maloney. That one still hits like a Mack truck.

Lynora, sorry to hear about your stomach bug. CH, sorry to hear you have to keep your Internet usage down.
I managed to injure myself the first day on the job. I got a drink from the vending machine, and when I bent down to retrieve the drink, I felt a sharp pain on my forehead. Turns out I smacked my head on the plastic holder for the lost money reimbursement envelopes. I managed to break the skin and have the typical bleed from a facial cut. Luckily <eye roll>, my new manager noticed.

Just tell them that as you were getting your soda, you noticed ninjas from a rival company preparing to make of with trade secrets. With no regard to your own safety you sprang into action, engaging all 20 of them in a bloody battle to the death, until only one remained. As you and your foe circled each other, he with his kusari-gama, and you armed with a blood and gore caked soda can, you could hear the voice of your wise old dead mentor telling you strike. And strike you did, so true and devastating was your blow that the ninja, and his entire clan were erased from the very fabric of reality!
Dude..... you're kinda bad ass.
