Chimichangas for the top! :D

Damn, it's been awhile since I was on top. :P

Mmmm....chimichangas.

Well, a little piece of good that came from our bad morning. Bryce was so disorganized that he put on the wrong pair of glasses. So the pair he broke was his old back-up pair. The new ones were safe at home the whole time. Yay. :)

Tonight Treppa is running one of the early pre-sessions to get characters familiar with her upcoming campaign. The character in question this evening is a half-elf Ranger. That player and I are the only two who don't share a unified backstory with the rest of the group, so our other four players have to wait a few more days before they can get their characters situated before the game starts.

I'm really excited about this campaign. This will be the first time I get to play as a character with the PF rules, though I've been running PF stuff off and on since the Alpha. This will be the first time playing PF at all for the four waiting to get their introductions as well. So far, they really seem to like the rules changes on paper. I hope they like them in play too!

And how are you doing today? I hope you've been having a better day than Bryce and I. :)

I've heard dried Nori is really good, I've contemplated grabbing some to see what it's like. Can you describe its flavor some?

Eating by itself is an acquired taste, but doable(some compare it to potato chips). With rice, it's delicious- the body and flavor of the rice brings out the flavor of the nori.

I remember eating nori when I was a kid. I loved it. It tasted like salt. Toasty salt. :)

Can't eat it now though. I tried a piece a few years back and had an allergic reaction. Either there were fish bits in it or whatever I'm allergic to in the fish was also in the nori. No real way to tell for sure.

Whut's a ghost post?

Oh, that's what.

Hey guys, quick question that I need the opinions of the good Fawltyites on.

I'm stuck with a side idea that I've been contemplating for my homebrew. I'm not up to the Wizards yet, but I've been thinking more and more that all wizards for this setting should be specialists. General magical study is something for sorcerers, while wizards, who get into the science of magic and metamagic, must specialize in the same way scientists in our world tend to specialize in field of study. I also am considering something where (specialist) Wizards sacrifice additional fields of study(schools of magic) to increase the benefit they recieve from Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus by the number of schools they sacrifice up to a certain maximum(probably +3).

I realize this is all clear as mud, but I've been grappling with this for a while now and could use opinions.

Dip back into your 3.5 stuff and take a look at the Red Wizards of Thay (3.5 DMG). You can pick and choose from that class as the start for some specialization. I'm not too sure how familiar you are with the Forgotten Realms either, but Thay (the country) might give you some ideas on how to work this in better.

Honestly, I like specialization a lot more in PF. However, RWoT is a start to greater specialization.

AH, yes. I'll have to flip through that later on tonight. Thanks for reminding me.

Spoilered for space

Spoiler:
The wizards from Freehold have all been trained at the Spellspire, a gigantic psuedo-mountain that has been excessively altered magically and repurposed as a college for magic. The politics of the place are byzantine and the curriculum is draconian, one must be able to juggle intrigue along with long hours of study....yes, it does sound very much like Thay, along with a dash of the Tower of High Sorcery(possibly the one at Wayreth). I originally envisioned it to be a lot more like Dossiep(sp?), so maybe I'll thumb through my Mage suppliments as well tonight.

** spoiler omitted **...

One is glad to be of service.

I prefer the RWoT over most of the other splatbook prestige classes (like master specialist) since it actually seemed like you were specializing and not just gaining more powers without a trade off. Plus the nature of relationships between masters and apprentices in Thay seems very Sithy too me, and I'm a huge Star Wars buff.

Book mark, will be back after hubby is done with the computer. I kinda snatched it from him and should give it back.

Yay for Chinese takeout. Day is suddenly seeming much better. :)

Glad things are looking up, Lynora.

Awright folks, I'm off for now- I'll let everyone know how RotRL went upon the morrow.

I own the Ptolus hardcover, but as for the Iron Kingdom stuff... I found out about it too late to get it at a reasonable priice. What is Gygaxian Redemption?

I found out about Ptolus and Iron Kingdom too late as well. A lot of stuff, in fact. I had a dry period between 2000 to Nov 2005 where I didn't do much in the way of any gaming except for a one-off. Eberron pulled me back in at the time.

As for Gygaxian Redemption ... as I'm sure you've read by now ... has been addressed by proper authorities. :P

I just hunted it down. The store is Capital City Comics.

It looks like they carry the same kinds of collectibles, toys, and what not so you might find some good things there. Of course, you might not, but searching is half the fun. :)

I ran across perhaps a chain of that store up near Polaris. If I were a comic geek, I'd probably appreciate it. However, I'm pretty specific on what comics I want to read and prefer them to be more of an omnibus style so I don't have to chase down issue after issue.

Collectibles are a hit and a miss with toys. I did pick up a couple today (Clone Wars Cartoon Yoda and General Grievous) but only because they were discounted.

Incidently ... you know what would make good Galchutts? Check out those Gears of Wars action figures.

There is either A) a problem with the power cord, or B) the port where the power cord plugs in. But either way it ain't getting no juice. Can't charge it and can't even hold the damn thing so it will connect. :/

Sharoth:

Per your request, I acquired the following:

Monster Manual III
Races of the Dragon
Manual of the Planes
Races of Faerun
Dragon Magic

Half off cover price + 6.75% comes to just under $83.

I may be looking at the HPBs in Cincy if I have a chance this weekend. I can still continue or do you think you're good at this point? Let me know.

A notice to those of my Paizo brethren that will soon sojurn to our home. There will be Johnny Cash Albums played, if this is a problem, I will shoot you. With a nerf gun. In the crotch. Six times. A day. ;)

Can you take it by an independent computer shop to see if they can at least give it a diagnostic? Hopefully it's A.

With the exception of Willie, Cash is practically the only thing "country" that I enjoy.

Which reminds me. I was at a store earlier today that had a Johnny Cash t-shirt with this on it. Made me think of you. ;)

But you also forget Waylon Jennings, he was just as great as Willie, and a personal hero of mine. I wept when he died. :/

No doubt! It's a two laptop house here too (although hers is a Mac).

I also need to get my desktop up and running again. The registry is frakked due to a virus scanner that got overzealous with a registry entry and now I can only boot-up to login and then it kicks me back out to the login screen. Trying to figure whether I should upgrade to Win 7 (would have to be 32-bit) or try to do a work around to get Win XP working again. Intend to eventually use it as a network server.
