I'm considering expanding the Arcane Lore skill so as to help make it possible to play characters who are non-spell casters but with an enhanced ability to fight magic.
The idea I'm toying with is to remove the following spells from the game and replace them with skill rolls Knowledge: Arcane with appropriate DCs.
Identify
Detect Magic
Dispel Magic
Prot Chaos/Evil/Good/Law
Magic Circle against Chaos/Evil/Good/Law
Dimn Anchor
Remove Curse
Detect Scrying
Break Enchantment
Dismissal
Dispel Magic, Greater
Analyze Dweomer
Banishment
Prot from Spells
Any feedback on this would be helpful

That's a very interesting idea. I would limit it to the following:
Detect Magic
*Dispel Magic - only as a long ritual.
Prot Chaos/Evil/Good/Law - fixed location only.
Magic Circle against Chaos/Evil/Good/Law - fixed location only.
Remove Curse
Break Enchantment
I don't see Greater Dispel Magic as a good idea to include.
Dimensional Anchor/Dismissal/Banishment, maybe, but only as part of a Magic Circle. I removed Identify because it is identical to Detect Magic, except providing a bonus to spellcraft checks. There are easier ways to have one skill provide a bonus to another.
For the actual use, I would suggest no shorter than 1 minute "casting time" to do these, and as long as days for some. The DC should be rather high, since they can be retried. Something like 20 + 3*spellLevel might be appropriate. Remove Curse would be DC 32 for instance (6th level expert, with Int 16, could succeed at this).
Nice idea!
