Warlock - old school style

How would you make a warlock old school? Certainly the way it is would be too powerful right? would he just have spell-like powers?

Basic D&D (70s)
AD&D or Expert D&D (80s)
2E AD&D (90s)
d20: 3E & Paizo (00-present)

And, are you talking about fluff or crunch?

well I have most all of those books though I'm thinking 1st ed or even Castles and Crusades. And I'm thinking both fluff and Chrunch.
