I had ideas for two spells that I think are "missing" from the standard Wiz/Sorc list. They are all based off the idea of humans wanting the senses that other races/beings get.
A link to Darkvision is here:

First would be Low Light Vision. Same stats as Darkvision. Like Darkvision, it should be compatible with the Permanency spell. It think it's a natural that the spell should be a 2nd level one, as Darkvision is.
The other would be "heighten senses". Elves, gnomes, halflings & dwarves all get +2's on perception rolls. Why not a spell to give +2 on perception for the same duration etc. as Darkvision? Like Darkvision, it should be compatible with the Permanency spell. Like racial bonuses, it should stack with the Alertness feat. I was thinking that it might be a first level spell, but what do you guys think.

Mr. Fishy thinks that 3.5 had spells like that in one of the complete books, savage species maybe, Darkvision is a little more powerful than low light so maybe a lower level or a longer duration. The sense spell should have a higher bonus +4 but only for one sense (hearing, sight).
Nice maw by the way.

Well, my aim is to emulate the racial bonuses of the races, not surpass them. So I would want to stick to the +2. Maybe limit it to two senses, i.e. elves get +2 on sight and sound perception. But a +2 to perception is not that powerful to begin with. I don't want to gimp it down to a cantrip... If it were a cantrip, I'd think it should have a really short duration.

Psionics Handbook and Expanded Psionics Handbook had two different versions of "Elfsight"
Psionics Handbook it was a 0th level power, and gave low-light vision. Useable at will with a short duration, I think that could work.
Expanded Psionics Handbook had it as a 2nd level power, that gave low-light, +2 to search and spot, and the (3.5) elf ability to detect secret doors.
It was also a 1st level power for Psionic warriors (kinda like a Bard or Ranger getting a spell earlier).
