Can anyone check Pandora's Box to see if they left Hope in there?

Liberty's Edge

No, it escape and was killed by all the other critters.

You know, I had wondered if they did hook those things up to each other. Maybe that's when you know for sure whether the other one is faking it or not. :P

My thought while watching was, hooking those things up would double your fun.

Or cause a lot of problems if your partner is imagining that (s)he's hooking up other than you. :P

And what happens if there's a threesome or an orgy?

Things get complicated.

Sovereign Court

And here I thought the thread was about creative alias posts being ignored.

When I clicked, I had thought it was due to wanting more avatar options or the ability to have your own unique one.

A real tragedy, that, CJ.

Dark Archive

The sad thing is that I think some of them really believe that if they killed themselves they would be ressurected as Na'vi on Pandora.

Liberty's Edge

And people say that we (the gamers) are the ones who have difficulties separating what is imaginary and what is real ...

Liberty's Edge

If anything, its the opposite. We have the most experience differentiating the two.

Dark Archive

Well, in all fairness, gamers have been talking about VR addiction for as long as there have been cyberpunk games, and sci-fi fans have been talking about it since there were cyberpunk novels. We knew this was coming andthis is just three dee movies, this isn't total immersion virtual reality. In fact the bluring of the line between reality and fantasy is even an issue in the movie with Sully as he struggles to decide which version of him is more real. Oh the irony.

You're thinking of genticles.

You may want to read this : "Please mount my hot blue alien" by Marc Morford of the San-Francisco Chronicle.

I was depressed after seeing Avatar, but that's only because I really didn't like it.

I haven't seen it yet, but this thread reminds me of what I read on Kunstler's blog:
http://kunstler.com/blog/2009/12/blue-christmas.html

Reality can be more amazing and beautiful then any fiction or fantasy, but sadly, that isn't normally the case.

As for getting that sad over a movie- I would guess that people are just emotional wrecks these days, and the movie is just stirring the pot.

Hard times we live in... or are about to.

I'm feeling so depressed after taking a big chunk of my relatives out to see Avatar during the holidays. I could have spent that $ on miniatures.

Liberty's Edge

Well, on the other hand, we may be seeing the birth of a strange new subculture.

Where were these people when Contact was released a decade ago?

I keep telling people the Na'vi are dragon riders.

Fourth grade.

Let's start an anti-Avatar organization before more unsuspecting moviegoers become sheep to the slaughter:

Bothered About Avatar...aka, BAA...

Get it?

BAA

...aaa...aaa...

Never mind.

It was a nice try, and you shall be cannonized for it.

Hopefully not of Pern.

Those never grabbed me. Some of the illustrations were okay. Can't make the name of that guy come to mind.

EDIT: Whelan

Hmmmmm... not familiar. Examples?

Michael Whelan

Let's see if that worked.

It did. Thanks!

That people should go out their houses and see the world, live their lives...

Well if their tentacles are really genticles, then when they plug in ... Oh, you meant riding, like ... riding. Sorry.

Haven't seen the movie yet - 3D gives me headaches, not to mention the glasses x2 issue... I don't think this is VR addiction, maybe it's just the low that comes after the high of a really great story. People got all jazzed up and into Avatar, and now they figure it's all downhill from here. Or at least this movie-year... only thing I'm seriously eager for is Voyage of the Dawn Treader (aka Narnia 3).

So the scene where she 'connects' with her animal...

Oh she's 'connecting' all right...hehehe.

I was wondering why that movie reminded me of my holiday in Tijuana. At first, I thought it was the beautiful scenery and exotic locales.

But as it turns out, it was the donkey shows.
