As always, constructive feedback and compliments are welcome!

Being a fan of Supernatural, the 'Hounds of Hell' was neat to see.

Some fairly clever beasties, and the prescence of a pair of fey was a nice touch.

Danke. Supernatural's hell hounds are great. The Hounds of Hell is right up my alley as a DM. The name sounds familiar, leading players to prepare for A only to be hit by B. Good times. :)

That high-pitched chirp? Oh, that's just the sound of DOOM!

Don't stray into one-eyed baboon territory unless you absolutely have to.

Come frolic to death with the children in the playground of the damned! Muahahaha!

Gotta love the image... ewww...

It's been a while since I updated here and in the lab. The last issue of Quid Novi? featured emus and ostriches, including battle versions, animal companion data, and pricing guidelines.

The emus and ostriches were statted up by QN subscriber Shane O'Connor.

Okay, I'm not terribly familiar with ostriches, but have seen emus in petting zoos. Is it even conceivable that one could carry any significant amount of weight as a mount? And run? And not look dorkTACular? (Okay, never mind the last, that's inevitable.)

Of all the things that one could ride into battle, the only thing that beats the ostrich for 'what the heck where they thinking?' is that gelatinous cube mount from Savage Species.

Suckers can kick, 'though. I'll give 'em that!

Nice stats! Possibly a little too good, actually. Comparing the ostrich animal companion to the Bear, it's pretty hot.

I have no idea how feasible it would be for a halfling or gnome to ride an emu. I do know that ostriches can be ridden; ostriches races are even sort of big attractions in some places.

The stats might be too good. I dunno. For the basic creatures, I don't think so because of the docile trait, which would also apply to animal companion versions until they become battle trained.

My instinct is that even if the ostrich and emu are too good for ostriches and emus, they're not too good in comparison to other animal companion and mount options.

YMMV. :)

Yeah, it might just be me knee-jerking. I was like 'holy stats Batman' and 'holy natural armor +4 at 1st level!' and then noticed that the upgrade at 4th level doesn't really compared to the upgrade the Ape gets to size large w/ +8 Str. It probably balances out to be just an acceptable choice, which is way better than it being something nobody would ever take!

Ostrich races. The mind boggles. Ah well, I had to lasso a pig in a rodeo once, so I guess anything humiliating for both man and beast is a past-time somewhere. :)

For your ostrich and man enjoyment:

Ostrich Rider, the Ostrich Riding Detective (Mutants & Masterminds stats)

Ostrich Rider in Action: One | Two | Three

:D

Slowly I'm getting back to work on the Lab. I've added Aengus the Wanderer. With luck and adequate time management, I can get my two "under constructions" done this coming week.
