Putting game journals online

Gamer Life General Discussion

Sczarni

I was hoping someone here could give me a better idea. The one group I play with loves it when I take our game journal and post it online for everyone to read. I do admit to being a little long winded when I do this, but the rest of the group finds it fun to read. We run a few different ganes and for each, the best idea I could come up with was a LiveJournal account, but I currently have 3 different journals running. Anyone have any ideas about how I can make it easier to manage these? I'm about to start a Pathfinder game with another group and that means another journal, so any ideas would be appreciated. And comment too..am I just making too much work for myself?!

You might find a wiki easier to manage than a separate LJ account for each campaign, especially if you're using a common setting for multiple games. Then you can put up campaign setting details as the main site and just have separate sections in the wiki for each campaign.

That's what I'm doing for my current homebrew campaign, and I imagine that if I run subsequent campaigns I'll do something similar. If you're interested in seeing how it looks, here's the website for the setting. Adventure summaries are here. I use wetpaint, but there are several hosted wiki services out there. The other DM in my gaming group uses pbwiki for his homebrew campaign setting and adventure summaries.

One of the online games I am playing in also uses a wiki...pbworks.

You can take a look-see here
. Look under "Game History and Journals". The GM puts the session summaries there, and my character's journal is Xak's Boasting.

All in all, it works.

I send ihe journal out to the players in a Word document.

Obsidian Portal is a good resource in my opinion. It would also allow your players to enter their own PC's and sign on to view.
