The Tombs of Gluttony

Rise of the Runelords

Dark Archive

So far, my players have found a reason to go explore every sin except for gluttony. Does anyone have any excuses/story hooks they've created for their players to explore these tombs? The "we're just exploring because we're adventurers" doesn't work with my players. They need a reason directly tied to the plot. Thanks!

Rumours of an excellent buffet?

Wisecrackery aside, there is no *need* to investigate all the wings. I finished reading that section last night so I have a couple of ideas:

If the players are interacting with the other factions in Runeforge, perhaps one of those factions could ask to trade something from the Gluttony wing for information. They might suggest the existence of some magic item worth seeking out (this could be true or untrue) such as some item that has the power to supress necromantic magic that the Gluttonists were studying and keeping under wraps or a part of the Gluttonous Tome from the Magic of Thassilon document.

Another idea is that the Gluttonists, in the interests of getting fresh meat for their experiments could abduct a familliar or animal companion (or a PC whose player took the night off), prompting a rescue mission.

Once the PCs start raising hell in the other wings, Kazaven might decide to seek a temporary alliance with them. A little magic could spiff up one of the mummies to serve as his envoy, conveying an offer to parley with the PCs. To facilitate communication, the lich could offer a minor magic item enscribed with the gluttony rune, potentially tipping off the PCs to the sihedron medallions' drawback.

Say more about this. I don't follow. Drawback?

Since this is a DM thread and is full of spoilers already...

Read in the next module about the consequences of wearing the medallion. I personally wouldn't want to tip the players off about that just yet because it's too sweet.
