Is there an appropriate knowledge check that we can make before we proceed? Also, is it really just the 3 of us or is Nalaliel joining in as an NPC with a class? I am still down 10 hp from the previous fight and currently we don't have a reliable way to recover unless we rest.

Sorry. Do you want me to give up a spell to cast Inflict Light Wounds on you? Or channel negative energy for you? Typically, I would wait until the end of the game day to do that, unless someone was REALLY badly hurt, but in the case of THIS campaign, I don't know what the "end of the game day" is.

2 things to bear in mind, 1) since the world is always in darkness you guys are the ones to choose when to rest and when not to (especially since undead don't really sleep) 2) from this point onwards I'll have Nalaliel join the group as an NPC

After we finish resting, then we will approach the tower, and check the outside of it for any entrances.

the tower is not guarded the entrance is clearly visual and actually the door is broken and there are very old blood stains leading into the tower

as you enter, you see the circular base of the tower is littered with torn books and blood stains, there is very little broken furniture in the tower and a stair way goin up as well as down

the hatch leads to a small room, there isn't much in there other than a few sealed bottles and a few books.

"Filleox, you know some magic, u want to see if they are magical?"

What class is Nalalie? Can she tell whether any of this stuff is magical?

First, Filleox searches the room for secret doors and such.

Perception = 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Then, assuming nothing is found, Filleox casts Detect Magic. He turns around so that the cone effect covers the whole room, and if he still detects no magic, he checks the circular base of the tower as well.

I have no ranks in the Knowledge (arcana) nor Spellcraft skills, and those can't be used untrained, so I can't identify anything if I DO find magic.

Also, I'm afraid I'll be available only a few more hours. Then, once again, my availability will be limited / nonexistent for another 4-5 days. Sorry. After that, I hope, I'll be back for good.

So assuming we finish this secret room quickly and uneventfully, I would vote to explore the upstairs before the downstairs, the theory being that there could only be finite space to explore upstairs, whereas the underground might theoretically go on forever.

BTW, do the bloodstains lead up or down the stairs? That might affect my decision...

yup that's a disabled trap (a spear trap if anyone whanted to know)

ok as you walk upstairs you find another trashed room, this time a library, blood stains everywhere, there is a mutilated corpse at the centre of the room, the blood probably came from them

I'm thinking we should take 2 bottles each. Ulgulanoth said that the bottles are sealed. Maybe breaking one of the seals would release some magical effect. (Although I don't think we should do that yet.)
