Making Ilverae Parastric something she really is

Second Darkness

Hey.

I'm Gm of our Second Darkness campaign. When I saw the playtest-version of the Alchemist, I had an idea. How about making the Ilverae, alchemist-drow to REAL Alchemist insted of being bard? Is 7th-level alchemist too hard? What could be the best build?

I'm waiting for ideas and maybe some boulds for 7th-level drow alchemist..?

Give her some angry bomb stuff. No mutagens in my opinion, just a bomber. A drow wouldn't take infusion, and she'd probably toss bombs that'd hit her subordinates.

Yes, that bombing sounds like Drow...But I think that the mutagens would be OK, because in theory, it is some kind of fleshwarping?

Except no sane Drow would fleshwarp themselves without trying it on someone else first. Bombing on the other hand, I could see a lot of that.

Toughest thing about the Bard version in my game was her casting Confusion on the group - two heaviest hitters started wailing on each other.

But a strange class like Alchemist would probably work well.

And I did it- my group (human fighter-half-orc ranger-gnome druid) faced Ilverae the alchemist :D

She was real bomber. I took the acid bomb, explosive bomb and fast bomb discoveries. Fly formulae was really neat, and I also added a potion of Invisibility. Battle was rough-mad, flying alchemist throwing bombs and six panicked troglodyte. Unfortunately for Ilverae, the half-orc is VERY OPTIMIZED. One hit of his +1 Keen Falchion did the trick. :D But: She managed to knock out the fighter and two troglodytes. I made her a 7th level, but on the later thought, one more level would'nt hurt.

this was the build i made for her, note the PC's faced her a lvl 7 and i gave her 1 lvl lower Heroic NPC gold.I know Alchemist's dont have caster lvl's and as such cant take item creation feats. However this is why i have given her the Spell Knowledge discovery as this gives her an effective caster lvl.
