Here is a new feat.
Shifty
You have become more adept at moving in combat.
Prerequisites: Dodge, Mobility
Once per round if an opponent makes a melee attack against you that misses, you may take a 5 foot step. You may take this action even if you have moved this round.
Normal: You may not take a 5 foot step if you have moved during the round.
A fighter may take this as one of her bonus feats.

Would this preclude the taking of a 5' step in the users following round?
How about combat reflexes allowing you to use this feat up to your dex bonus?

I would say no and no.

I'd say make it require an immediate action.
Even with that, it will require a playtest; this looks like it could lock down full attacks pretty good (and w/o full attacks, too many classes fall behind the magic-users).
We have been using this with my group for a while now. It hasn't caused that much problem with full attacks. The way we play, you can't use a feat like this until all attacks are resolved. Perhaps that should be explicitly stated in the fat description though.

Ah! If that's the case, the feat is fine as-is (and yes, it would have little-to-no bearing on the full attacks).

I've now got several possibilities of what that could mean running in my head.
Another way of putting it would be that this feat cannot interrupt a full-attack action.
