Discuss characters, ask questions, chitchat and all sorts of other fun things!
Reposting the character creation guidelines and the campaign traits:
All the PCs will be Pathfinders, beginning play with wayfinders and full status as field agents in the Society. The group will be based out of the Magnimar Lodge.
All Pathfinder RPG material is legal, and most other Paizo-produced stuff as well (subject to conversion if needed, of course). In addition, I will be allowing the priest and swashbuckler classes from Tome of Secrets by Adamant, if you have access to that. Traits will be used, and PCs begin at 1st level with a 20 point buy.
Campaign Traits:
Foresighted: You have long studied the mysteries of the future, and learned how to turn those secrets to your own benefit. Others often say your reactions are uncanny; most of them do not even know the half of it. Once per day as a free action, you may gain a trait bonus to the result of an initiative roll equal to the level of a divination spell you have prepared by sacrificing that spell (as if casting it).
Encyclopedic Scholar: During your Pathfinder training, you learned one lesson particularly well: knowledge is power. This is particularly true when it applies to knowing the weaknesses of others. As a result, you spent much time in the Grand Lodge’s libraries, reading up on all the various monstrosities you might one day encounter during your adventures. Choose two Knowledge skills. You gain a +2 trait bonus to checks made to identify a creature using one of those skills.
Careful Combatant: Though not all Pathfinders follow the path of the warrior, they all undergo some training in fighting. Your teachers often praised your ability to choose the right time for your actions, exploiting weaknesses and waiting for the perfect moment. You gain a +1 trait bonus to attack and damage rolls whenever you make an attack as a readied action.
Ever Prepared: Some of your fellow Pathfinders say that you are paranoid; you usually retort that paranoids tend to live the longest. Regardless, you have trained yourself to be ready for action on a moment’s notice, no matter the situation. You gain a +1 trait bonus to initiative checks and a +1 trait bonus to Reflex saves against traps.
Artifact Seeker: Mystic studies have always been a passion for you, and you spent many an hour during your training years wondering what strange and wondrous treasures might still lie in a dusty tomb or Darklands cavern, waiting to be found – waiting for you to find them. Let others have the gold and gems; you know where the real power is. In preparation, you taught yourself the necessary techniques to separate out the unique discoveries from the ordinary dross. Once per day, you can cast identify as a spell-like ability (caster level 1st).
Vision-touched: Not long before you set out to become a Pathfinder, you experienced a powerful vision that dramatically impacted your life, setting you on the course you follow today. Whether it was through a wizard’s spell, a witch’s fortunetelling or a shaman’s vision quest, your eyes were opened to the possibilities of your future, and the echoes of that experience still guide you today. Whenever you gain an insight bonus on a skill or attack roll, you also gain a +1 trait bonus to the skill or attack roll.
Sharp-eyed: One of the key areas on which your Pathfinder training focused was investigation, particularly the importance of attention to details; throughout the lessons, you were consistently at the top of the class. You can tell the difference between an Osirian hieroglyph and a symbol of sleep at thirty paces, and that fact as kept you alive on more than one occasion. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and it is always a class skill for you.

Indeed! Therin Ulric, ready to go! My blade stands true!
Few notes: first, it looks like you've spent 25 points rather than 20 on your ability scores. Also, the die type on your rapier and short sword are both too high (they should be d6s). Finally, I think your Perception calculation is off - it should be 1 (rank) + 3 (class) + 0 (Wis) + 1 (trait) = 5 (6 traps).

Ugh, you were right on both accounts. I was copying down the stat mods on the skills section and somehow I managed to put my charisma mod on the perception checks.
I don't know what I did on the stats, I have a text document I did the actual character building in with a column for all the point costs, but apparently I wasn't able to add. I'll read through the character a bit more carefully and make sure there aren't any more errors in there.

No problem - that's what the pre-game checkover is for!
Answering from the other thread:
Alright, I think this here is what my character is going to look like, though I may still make some adjustments here and there before we start. Beyond us being stationed in Magnimar, is there anything in particular you want in our background? I'll start whipping up a background soon.
Not as such, no - though I do usually try to work background elements for my characters into my storylines whenever I can.

Rufus Reeven, half-elf ranger and hunter by trade, and his hunting dog Brune reporting for duty. The dog is just a standard guard dog (but with hunting training from Handle Animal instead of combat training), bought for 25 gp. If he survives long enough, will become my animal companion on 4th level.

Ok, I've gotten a lot of work in on the Char, I know it's not finished (by a good bit), but I have to go out for a few hours so I figured I'd at least let you glance at where its going so far
Something to consider: as a Small creature, your carrying capacity is only 3/4 of a Medium character's at the same strength - with Str 5, you've got only 12 lbs of light load capacity. You're already over your limit there, with just the armor and shield...

Thanks didn't notice the 3/4 - I'm already running late though so I'll work on it more later :P

I just need to pick a feat, a trait, and write up her appearance and background. Barring any adjustments needed to round out the party, if needed...
Any suggestions for her 2nd trait? Nothing really jumps out at me from the basic traits web enhancement, and I'm hoping there's something more suitable in one of the Pathfinder Companions. Rich Parents always looks good, of course, and it fits her background -- but I'd prefer something more flavorful.

Whoa! This game is coming together fast! We have stats for everyone except Dragonborn's druid already - very impressive! We should be able to start the game by the weekend at this rate.
One thing I would like to point out while we get ready to finalize characters: the only melee combatant in the group at the moment is the rogue. Everyone else is designed to operate at range... which could get tricky. If Dragonborn winds up going for the half-orc with the ankylosaur, this might not be an issue, but it's definitely going to be something you guys will want to take into account as we get going.
Corath
Hey everyone!
A few things.
1) I went with a T-rex instead of an ankylosaurus. 5 gold to whoever can tell where I got her name from.
2) I selected the Rich Parents trait(if a background is needed, he's adopted and part of a nodamic merchant tribe. I'll go into detail later, I'll have to be creative to explain the dragonhide...)
3) I am a hunter. Up close, club in your face, spear in your back hunter. I can also be a scout(though not the best).
4) I am very protective of Prettykill. Woe to those who would wish her harm!!!
I can't wait to see the face on the townspeople when I walk into town with a young tyrannosaur!

And there's our melee druid!

I have to admit I'm drawing a blank there. Out of curiosity, where is Corath from? Dinosaurs aren't really native to Varisia. Could he be a Mwangi transplant?

It's entirely possible that your parents' wealth was in the form of that breastplate.
3) I am a hunter. Up close, club in your face, spear in your back hunter. I can also be a scout(though not the best).
Just what the group needed.
4) I am very protective of Prettykill. Woe to those who would wish her harm!!!

Yeah... Magnimar isn't that cosmopolitan a town...
Okay, today and tomorrow are my two long days at work - I will be working roughly 20 of the next 32 hours. I'll check in briefly tonight (I still need to go over Corath's stats, among other things), but since we're all here, I'll see if I can't get the game thread up tomorrow evening. Awesome!

Then we should have no problem getting food for everyone out in the wilds.
I feel sorry for our (animal)prey...

And while I can only go so far in that direction as a first level rogue, as things progress I plan on making sure my character can stand toe to toe in combat as well. I see him as something of the Errol Flynn portrayed swashbuckling type, quick with the rapier and the quip. He's picked up his roguish skills through natural dexterous talent and from times running with crowd he saw as rebels but ended up being simple thieves, however he is truly proud of his dueling skills.

Kaeryta wrote:Except for that pesky 2nd trait, Kaeryta "Short-hair" is ready for inspection.Given her "destined to serve Abadar" vibe, what about the Birthmark trait?
I'm tempted to wait until "Dwarves of Golarion" comes out in a few weeks, but the Birthmark trait will be fine. I'll just go with that.

Interesting -- in glancing over the other characters to get an idea of party interactions, Ar'dreth the elf is the one my character would most easily get along with. Everyone else doesn't seem to understand that you can't just ignore the rules, or people will get hurt ;).
Oh, and Mozzel Ann is like the anti-Kaeryta as far as I can tell. Which means they'll probably be best friends.

If there is one thing I took from my father, it was laws are in place for a reason. Everything else he tried to teach me was rubbish. It is good to see another law abiding citizen in Magnimar.
Ar'dreth
Hm.. and elven wizard of the courts, and a half-orc druid with slight temper... This should be interesting...
I have nothing to do with the courts my unloving father has to do with. I do have to say your "ways" are a bit unconventional to me though. My knowledge is vast though and I know of your kind.
Rufus Reeven
I think the two of you have misunderstood a few things...
Laws are all well and good...if they are well and good. But laws that are not fair or don't offer protection to the weak are evil, evil I tell you! ;)
Off-topic:
Where in the real world are people based, just to get an indication of when not to expect posting? Personally, I'm from Denmark, homeland of Vikings and Muhammad Cartoonists :) But seeing as I work from home, on a computer, I'll be available most days (not weekends though) from around 9am GMT - 11pm GMT)

I am but stating truths my friend. I know the difference between good and evil, but truthfully, I don't care unless it affects me. Corath, I do agree that a little animalistic behavior is necessary at times. I dare say I look forward to seeing Prettykill maul on some enemies.
I am in U.S. Central time, but have a computer available almost continuously. It is currently 12:23 pm for me also.

Good art takes precedence over the rules :)
I'm US east coast, and have plenty of time to access this thing, most notable time I'll be missing besides sleeping is every other Sunday when I have my normal pathfinder game (which pretty much engrosses the whole day, but I'll try to get in a post after/before I wakeup/go to sleep.
9am-1am est is pretty much the time of me being around in general though

Now now, such talk of the importance of the laws would make me think that you all would be happier in Cheliax, after all the hells they are so close to are such a lawful place. I personally think that for a law to have any importance to it, the law must be just. Those which are should be followed, but those that aren't should be changed by whatever means needed. The courts often hold an imbalance against those who do not already hold power, and someone needs to stand for those who can't do it themselves.
I'm on US pacific coast, so right now its 10:44 here. I'm on pretty solidly weekdays since I can get on from work, and I work too much. So other then overnight I'm normally around. Weekends a bit less so, but I'll still check at least a few times throughout the day.

I do not agree with devil worshiping and slavery, but to their defense, they follow their laws to the "T".
