Ok normally I do everything I can before I admit to being epic fail, but I've given up on myself in regards to this stuff. I have friends on the west coast who haven't played in a game for about 2 years now so I was looking to try and do something for them through one of the titles programs. I was considering Against the Giants so I went to the Wotc website and downloaded the map packs for said adventure, but I can't seem to get the grid to line up. The scale is 10 feet per square so I attempted to adjust the grid lines in the program to divide them into a more typical 5 foot square map. I think these easy to use programs may have me defeated in regards to map adjustment. So I was wondering if any of the good people here happen to use these two programs and if so what kinda suggestions does the community have. Also is there a program that people suggest over those two or are they considered top of the heap in regards to virtual table tops.

I'd heartily recommend Fantasy Grounds. There's even a Map Rescaling tutorial in the Downloads section!

I tried using both the sliders and the pointers it still wasn't working well though. I think my issue may be that I need to resample the images down to a more acceptable pixel to 10' ratio. Time to go beat my friend who has photoshop and have him do it.

I use kLoOge, which has a scale utility. You don't actually need a grid, as the VTT will tell you how far you are moving, and if you pause for a second or two when changing direction - it will continue calculating as you turn corners and so on. I don't bother with a grid now, but if there's one on the map already I just scale from one apex to another and then say how long it *should* be; kLoOge then does the hard work.
Hope that helps.
