Ok, so I've started using the Scribus program to create my own pdfs. And now I need some help figuring out how to accomplish something. I would like to create a fillable form field on the finished pdf that will allow me to essentially just right-click and add an image. I know I've seen this before on a character sheet that allowed you to add a pic of your character while you were filling it out so when you printed it out then you had all your stats and stuff and an image to go along with it. Of course it's been a while since I remember seeing it and I'm not sure it was a pdf, it could have been a spreadsheet version or something. But I would think this would be possible with a pdf.
Also, I'm trying to create my own pdf for filling out and printing monster stat cards and am realizing theres a good deal of variation in what info and fields are necesary. I was wondering what I would have to do to create like a drop down box or something or maybe some check boxes you could select that would add each necesary part of a stat block to be filled in as it was needed. Perhaps this might require more programming than what I'm capable of but I would think this would be possible.
Thoughts, suggestions?

I'm not very familiar with Scribus, but from this link it looks like you'll have to do some fiddling with Javascript to make it work. Good luck!

Ok, so far in my search I've only found one program that is supposed to be able to do the two things I mentioned in the OP. Livecycle Design produced by Adobe. Which is another one of those several hundred dollar programs.
Does anyone know if there is an open source freeware product that is similar that might do these things?

Is someone you know a student? Adobe used to sell Academic versions of their software at greatly reduced prices; I think the Academic ersion of Acrobat used to sell for $100-$130 US. In return, the student has to provide proof of their student status.
