Well I was thinking about somethings for TWF to help some builds that are more flavorful.
Two Weapon Focus
Prerequisites: Base Attack +1, Two Weapon Fighting, proficiency with two different weapons.
Benefit: Chose two different weapons. So long as you use these two specific weapons, while using the two weapons fighting feats, you gain the weapon focus feat effect of +1 to hit.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new pair of weapons. This feat applies to both weapons, but does not stack with other weapon focus feats that might apply to either weapon.
Greater Two Weapon Focus
Prerequisites: Base Attack +1, Two Weapon Fighting, Two Weapon Focus, 8th Level Fighter, proficiency with two different weapons.
Benefit: This functions like Two Weapon Focus, but with a +2 bonus.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of weapon. This feat applies to both weapons, but does not stack with other greater weapon focus feats that might apply to either weapon.
Two Weapon Specialization
Prerequisites: Base Attack +1, Two Weapon Focus with selected weapon, fighter level 4th.
Benefit: So long as you use these two selected specific weapons, while using the two weapons fighting feats, you gain the weapon specialization feat effect of +2 to damage.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new pair of weapons. This feat applies to both weapons, but does not stack with other greater weapon specialization feats that might apply to either weapon.
Greater Two Weapon Specialization
Prerequisites: Proficiency with selected weapons, Greater Two Weapon Focus with selected weapons, Two Weapon Focus with selected weapons, Two Weapon Specialization with selected weapons, 12th-level fighter.
Benefit: This functions like Two Weapon Specialization, but with a +4 bonus to damage.
Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new pair of weapons. This feat applies to both weapons, but does not stack with other greater weapon specialization feats that might apply to either weapon.

Or... you could do what I did.
Set weapon focus to grant the benefits of the entire chain as matching BAB (or fighter level if you prefer) are reached, and allow Fighters to take weapon focus for entire weapon training groups at a time. Somebody with light blades weapon training could take weapon focus light blades and dual-wield a rapier and shortsword, for example. (Unless I'm wrong since I'm doing this from memory and rapier isn't in the light blades)

Mine allows for any combination, like sword and board. While yours is restricted to like weapons.

Two Weapon Focus
Prerequisites: Base Attack +1, Two Weapon Focus, proficiency with two different weapons.
Probably meant for the prereq to be Two Weapon Fighting, there?
For Two Weapon Specialization, you should probably include the specific text from Two Weapon Focus that this bonus only applies when you are Two Weapon Fighting with the two weapons in question (otherwise it's two free Weapon Specialization feats!).

Opps sorry, thanks for the catch.
P.S. fixed I think.

Awesome, and very cool feats, btw. I've run a few dual-short sword (or dual hand axe) Fighter / Ranger types to get double duty from Weapon Focus / Weapon Specialization, so it's nice to see a Feat chain that allows a bit more versatility in this area.
I'm not sure if a Two-Weapon Critical (that gave the benefits of Improved Critical with two specific different weapons used two-weapon style) would be a logical progression of this idea, or a step too far...

Nope, that is next. Its not game breaking as it has higher restrictions with the same general benefit.

The reason I was thinking maybe 'step too far' was that there should perhaps be *some* advantage to pairing up identical weapons, which, in theory, should be easier.

Actually, there's an advantage to pairing up non-identical weapons Set.
Power Attack.
2 Kukri's = 1:1 + 1:1
Kukri + Scimitar/Rapier = 1:1 + 2:1
It's not a bad thing, just a cool result of this.

The bonus comes when they can't use the two weapon feat and can't gain the benefits from the connected feats, such as after a move action.
P.S. Allowing feats to allow TWF with other actions are highly needed for these feats. Now this levels the field, it costs you an additional feat with each action type added.

kyrt-ryder wrote:OK, not a bad idea. Not sure about balance though.Never said yours was bad, heck you could probably combine the two concepts and simply have "Two Weapon Focus" apply all the benefits stacking at appropriate levels.
Just throwing more ideas your way :-)
That's the beautiful thing. If you choose to only let the advanced parts apply to fighters, the level by level balance doesn't change at all, the only change you've introduced is freeing up more feats (which is a good thing with their... *cough* 'improvements'*cough* to the combat maneuvers feats.)

I am starting to wonder if the wording makes these feats too weak. Perhaps instead of the wording
"while using the two weapons fighting feats"
I should say,
"while wielding both these weapons in a hand".
Because there are too many situations in which you can't use two weapon fighting.
The idea of this feat was to allow two different weapons to use the same weapon focus feat, but requiring TWF as a prerequisite, but not make it abuse-able as being purely better than weapon focus which only has 1 weapon.

I think changing the wording to
"Chose two different weapon, or a fighter weapons training group. So long as you use these two specific, and different, weapons,"
