In Athas Cleric give homage to one of the four elemental planes(or the quisiplanes) of fire, earth, water, and air
So in PFRPG what other domains should a cleric chose from. I am really confused on what to do about this part of conversion.
Thoughts;
1) One option would be to allow another remotely appropriate Domain to be selected. A Cleric of Air might choose Travel or War (favored weapon longbow) as his secondary, while a Cleric of Fire might choose Artifice or Destruction. Some combinations, like those above, might feel 'obvious,' while others, such as Earth and Charm, might require a bit more justification.
2) Another option would be to allow the Cleric to 'specialize' and use an augmented version of Air, Earth, Fire or Water that includes some enhanced options. (Perhaps allowing the elemental blast to increase in damage with Cleric levels at a greater rate, picking up extra dice of effect every 3 or 4 levels, for instance.) If this option is chosen, you may wish to consider radically changing the Domains. Athas did not truck with the 'air = electricty, earth = acid, water = cold' notion, and a Cleric of Air would be more likely to have a blast of wind effect (that acts as a ranged bull rush / gust of wind combination) while a Cleric of Earth would be more likely to hurl increasingly larger conjured stones at people (up to giant boulder equivalency at mid to high level!). I like this idea best, as it creates the possibilty that an Athasian Cleric has a tiny dash of Warlock in them, able to throw fire, water, earth or air at their foes to greater effect than just 1d6+x damage at close range 5 times per day.
As Para-Elemental Clerics also existed in Athas, the acid blast of the Pathfinder Domain of Earth would find a new home in the Ooze Domain, and the cold blast of the Water Domain would fit in the Ice Domain. There would also be Smoke and Magma Domains, with a fire-based magma blast fitting the latter and some sort of single target 'stinking cloud ray' of choking volcanic fumes and ash perhaps working for the former.
I really don't remember if the Quasi-Elementals had Clerics in Athas, but if so, Domains for Lightning, Minerals, Radiance, Steam, Vacuum, Dust, Ash and Salt would logically follow (and the various Mephit types give hints as to what their 1st level 'blast' abilities would look like).
3) If going with the Para-Elemental Domains anyway, you could rule that all Clerics have a primary elemental Domain and a secondary para-elemental Domain (which must be related). One could be a Cleric of Air and either Ice or Smoke, or Earth / Magma or Ooze, or Fire / Smoke or Magma, or Water / Ice or Ooze. Allowing two Domains will leave the Domains at normal Pathfinder levels, and it would make sense to have the 1st level powers of the Para-Elemental Domains synergize better with the Elemental Domains than to have a Cleric with a plethora of different '1d6 blasts' as his 'Domain powers' for the first seven levels of his life...
4) One or more of the above. One Air Cleric might choose Air and Animal. Another Cleric might choose Air and Ice. A third Cleric might 'specialize' in Air and be a air-blast throwing Wind-Lock.
