Looking at the PFC I was thinking that it could get 3/4 spell progression without breaking it. Make it have a requirement to be able to cast 2nd level spells.
What do you guys think, balanced/broken/not enough? Appreciate your input.
I think that the class would be well served with some casting levels. Perhaps you can reduce the BAB or saves?

It's a catch-all sort of class (or should be), one anybody might take.
Strengths: avg BAB, 8 skill points w/ good class skills, 2 good saves.
Weaknesses: not attractive to bards, some weak features. 1/2 to 3/4 casting could be good. Can't see a ranger taking it, though he'd be good at it.
A useful NPC, and I've seen players on some boards wanting to play one, but it's not thrilling, IMHO. Needs something. Would full casting be overpowered compared to a bard of the same level? Probably not, but a sorcerer with full casting would jump right in there for a few levels.

Thanks for the ideas.
I like Lay of the Exalted Dead as a capstone ability, what do you think about giving the barbarians +2 breastplates and +1 ghost touch bane(chosen by the chronicler at the time of calling) greataxes? I see this as the PFC is reading a story and the figures in the story begin to materialize, so thematically it's pretty cool.
I'm not a big fan of Call Down the Legends as they're not incorporeal and also it could really slow the game down. I realize that it's not any worse than the Leadership feat or actually having a bronze horn of Valhalla, although 50,000gp for the horn is pretty much out for the ave char at level 12. I was thinking of replacing this with the Song of Freedom from the Beta.
In my AoW campaign, the char is gonna be a DMPC halfling bard/cleric(Lirr) who works into the PFC by retrieving a book from the ruins of Castle Greyhawk. I don't want to upstage the players, but I'll try out the full spellcasting, if it's too much I'll slow it down. I reckon this group is gonna need some help, and givien the likley hood of character turnover I want him to be the guy who keeps the party on track.
