Getting the PDF for free, already got the Hardcover

Customer Service

Well it's my first post here so... Hi!

I heard Paizo let you download the PDF of their products for free when you buy the Hardcover. I thought it was a nice idea, and tried to get the PDF but couldn't find how. Seeing as I brought the book in a retail store near me, I'm kind of worried I can't get the PDF anymore without paying for the Hardcover again.

Anyone knows if I can still get the PDF and if so, how?

You'll get a free PDF of any PAIZO published book if you purchase that book through one of the subscription lines.

So that's a no since I got mine from a store?

Unfortunately yes, it is a no for the reason you mentioned. On the Other hand, you can still buy the PDF from Paizo for 10 bucks, which ain't that expensive.

If you do want free PDF (for any other products which will be released in the future), you'll need to subscribe to that line. i.e. Subscribe now to the PF Roleplaying Game, starting with the Bestiary for example, and you'll receive the free Bestiary along with the book (as well as any following books of that line, as long as the subscription is not canceled).

Liberty's Edge

Unfortunately, that's correct.

You only get free PDFs from subscriptions you purchase.

Well, that and the free PDFs that Paizo gives out now and then. Usually previews to new books (like the beastiary) or player guides for Adventure Paths.

Cheers

Edit: Ninjaed

Well, I'm not ready to pay 10 bucks for a product I already own. On the other hand I don't really NEED the PDF, it would just have been a nice bonus.

Thanks guys for the answer!

Although not a pdf, you can also use the PRD:

The official one
A fanbased one (slightly easier to navigate - there's actually also a pdf of the site available there too)

As said above you have to have the rules subscription. On the other hand, the PDF for the Core book isn't as useful as the one for the Bestiary and it's not too late to subscribe and get that with a free PDF.

Note: If you subscribe you have to buy both the Bestiary and the GM screen also so if you don't need a (really good quality) GM screen then it's not such a good deal.

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

FYI - A much improved PDF copy of the PRD site is available now on d20pfsrd.com. This new one is much better formatted, has less pages, and is just as fast (if not faster) than before.

As a pre-emptive strike to people asking "why did you do this" I say that the PDF Paizo made available, while extremely attractive and a beautiful thing to behold, is slow as hell due to all of the graphics. If you want all of the same material, but don't care about the images, come check out the one we have.

Go to the Downloads page to nab it.
