The kingdom of Chiryoki is a strange and beautiful place, but a dangerous one. Long ago, a race known only as the Elders ruled here. They vanished, but traces of their glorious kingdom still remain, including ancient ruins and mysterious artifacts. The sky itself plays tricks on perception and nature—during the times known as Bloodlight and Second Bloodlight, everything shifts and changes, becoming darker, sharper, and more dangerous. Including people. And for some people, those changes linger into day and night, even becoming permanent. The Emperor holds the land in an uneasy balance as nobles play vicious games to gain greater power for themselves, their families, and their clans.
