Tome of Secrets: Warlord

Scarab Sages

hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the warlord from the tome of secrets before i dish out the money to buy at least the pdf. the warlord from 4e is, hands down, my favorite class, and want to know what the tome of secrets one is like.
thanks

Well he is a buffer. He is a d10, full bab class. 4 skill per level.

His powers are around buffer people. Giving +1 to hit and damage to everyone with 10' per cha mod
He gets some bounes feats

+2 ac while in a line
pluses to fear saves, and so on also his powers level

Also and this is the issue I have with it they can inspire everyone within 30' 3+cha mods times a day for 1d6 extra HP

Now by 19th it's 10d6 and if you have a cleric in your group you may have to make everything a whole lot harder.

cry havok gives allies a 18-20 crit range and +4 confirm rolls
Onward to victory gives allies an extra action per round.

But are aura and usable a number of times per day
I may be leaving one out

Over all I like the class but I would not allow it in a group with a cleric without alot of thought.

That in a nutshell is my issue with the book as a whole. If you want to uses something as is, not the book for you. If you want something you do not mind reworking , then the book is good.

The Warlord is probably my favorite class from Tome of Secrets so far. At the start of each encounter it can grant it and its allies temporary hit points that progress as the Warlord levels, not to mention a slew of other bonuses to AC, saves against fear, etc.

Though, like seekerofshadowlight said, I think it requires a little bit of tinkering to give it that "Pathfinder" edge. I've basically added the entire list of abilities the 3.5 Marshall gets to the Warlord, and so far it seems to be an easy and enjoyable fix.

I'd say to definitely check it out. I don't think it necessarily needs as much of a boost I may have given it, but I play slightly higher powered campaigns anyways.

I did not think it needed boosted. I thought it may be to much in a group that has channel if you are not expecting it. Like having 2 cleric's in a group and having them built to channel.

Over all it is a nice class

Scarab Sages

cool, thanks for responses, i will definetly check it out.

The temp HP thing was my concern as a whole. I was thinking of limiting it to 1d6 temp HP, +1/L. At high levels, it's still 20+1d6 HP, but at medium levels its not so bad. Other than that, its a great support class.
