Hello, first time post (short time lurker). My gaming group uses the spell point system in Unearthed Arcana. I plan on playing a Diviner Specialist. How would one convert the prohibited spells? In Pathfinder, it takes two slots to memorize one prohibited school spell. For the spell point system, would a prohibited school spell take up two slots but spell point cost stays the same? No change in slots (ie. stays at one) but double the spell point cost? Or both (two spell slots AND double the spell points)?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My guess would be double the points as the spell's oppositional nature means it takes up twice the amount of your magical potential... although I could see a case made for double the slots. Certainly not doubling both slots and points, though.

I would go with the (spell point) cost, the idea is that you can't cast alot of opposed spells, and any usage of them essentially negates the advantage of your specialist bonus slot.
This really seems to capture the spirit of the point system to me.
Good lord don't have it cost both points AND spell slots. That's really just overkill I think.

Sorcerers are fully supported by the UA system. They aren't dropped at all. Although one might complain that they don't have enough SP compared to Wizards. 17 more at 20th level vs.a Wizard isn't enough, from where I look at it.

Yeah I knew that and I agree, they don't get anywhere near enough for wizards to be able to cast any spell they have sloted just like a sorc but able to change day to day which ones they have sloted. It makes Sorc pretty weak next to them. I mean the ability to cast any spell as many times are their ability to cast last of the ones they know was the Sorc big str over a wizard give that to a wizard and the Sorc would need a big boost.
So I was just curious if you guys have a thought about it and if so how you planned to address it.

I ran a campaign for a year with spell points, never had a major problem with sorcerer/wizard. However, it was a grumbling point with the players. However, I think Pathfinder's already fixed the problem without realizing it. The sorcerer bloodlines give the sorcerer's a 'leg up' on differentiating them from the wizards under the UA Spell points system. Combined with a slightly higher spell point pool, I think we'll find the two are less the same under SP system.
