Congrats guys for reaching the 10th page. Well done and thanks!

As you gather to make ready an attack, you get a closer look at the creatures and note that they only superficially look like a big cat as they sport six legs each as well as the tentacles. They are aproximately 9' long and resemble a fully grown tiger in size.

Displacer Beasts (4) initiative : 6 + 2 = 8

Initiative order is:

Marcus - 22

Joneth - 21

Ilona - 14

Num-rah - 11

Ulven - 9

Displacer Beasts - 8

Dartalis - 7

Koryn - 2

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

"Come, abominations of a noble form, meet my blade and your doom!" They should attack me first. Hope I'll survive.

The Exchange

Init:1d20 ⇒ 2

Koryn sighs.

"No one is going to try and keep them alive, are they? Very well.."

His next words are a spell that holds divine power, and he seems to become heartier as it takes effect.

Koryn casts Aid on himself. Provides a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves vs. fear effects and 1d8+caster level in hit points. It lasts for 24 round(4 minutes). He still has his sap out.

HP bonus from Aid:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Heckles go up on the backs of the savage looking beasts as they sense your presence. They stalk forwards as some of you move to engage them.

Displacer Beasts (4) Basic Stats. HP 50, 47, 46, 42 / Spd 40
AC 16 Saves Fort +8, Ref +7, Will +3

Marcus moves out beside Num-Rah, hoping to set up a flank. He braces for the fight to come.

no way I'm charging in there. . .lol!

"Stay behind me, little man. And try to avenge me if I fall."

Ulven begins to recite the Tale of Red Thomas Against the Beasts of Numer. The version where Thomas kills them all, of course, not the real account where the Beasts eat Thomas and then proceed to devour a village full of orphans...

Inspire Courage +1 to all who can hear and Ulven sets his feet for the attack.

Liberty's Edge

Joneth charges forward slashing.

"Twisted beasts of evil, feel the cleansing blade of Muir!"

Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

At the sight of the beasts Ilona drops her katana point down (free action) and reaches over her shoulder, drawing her spear. (move action) Holding it forward in a combat stance she begins to move the spearhead in a rapidly increasing circle. A warm glow envelops the spearhead expanding into a corruscating ball of burning bright light, the temperature around her rising noticably.

As she takes a deep breath and shifts her stance she notices the Paladin's charge, too late to change her action as a wave of fire blasts forward enveloping a 30 ft cone shaped region.

Hatchling's Flame Maneuver. All targets(everything infront of her really)take 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 fire damage, make DC 16 Reflex save for 1/2

"Damn overeager.....GET DOWN!!!"

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Time for talk and boasting has come and gone. Num-Rah silently raises his direclaw above his head and hammers it down in a blinding strike on a beast that paladin just attacked. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 141d12 + 8 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 8 + (2, 6) = 19

I'm using Foehammer strike

Joneth Soulborn wrote:

Joneths blade sweeps up in an arc, slashing into the closest beast. Black blood flies through the air. 8hp dmg Beast 1 down from 50 to 42 hp

I'll assume that everyone in front ducks down at your warning.

A blast of flame and heat roars out over the front of the parties ranks, impacting into the two displacer beasts attacking. Both make nimble moves to get out of the way, partially succeeding . Ref saves of 10+7 = 17 each. Both take 3 hp dmg.
The two creatures land near the front ranks, their fur smoldering in places.
Beast 1 down to 39 hp / Beast 2 down to 44 hp

Male Human 4 Wizard

Dartalis fixes his gaze on the creatures attacking his friends and begins to recite and repeat the words of a spell, tracing arcane runes in the air and sprinkling bits of tallow, brimstone, and powdered iron.

"Ethumen flamu nosteri, mithus miri esparu." The words begin quietly, but the cadence rises as the spell nears its climax.

(Flaming sphere - 30 ft per round, standard action) Dartalis will aim at beast 1 or 2 if none of the others are in the spells direct path, if they are, then he will direct the spell to beast 3 or 4 (in that order) using a move action to get a clear line of sight before casting.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Beast 1 should take damage from my attack as well. I did 19 points of damage after Soulborn.

Num-Rah wrote:

Indeed The first displacer beast is battered again and is knocked to one side by the power of the blow. beast 1 is down to 20 hp

Beasts 3 and 4 are moving along the sides of the left and right hand sides of the cave, trying to out flank you. You can also get a shot at beast 2.

Beasts 1 & 2 attack. The two lead Displacer Beasts snarl in anger and pounce at Joneth and Num-rah. The first creature, (Beast 1)lashes out with both of its tentacles. 19+9=28 / 9+9=18
One ridged tentacle slashes across your chest leaving a vicious rend in your armor 8hp dmg. Tho other tentacle flails wide.

The second creature beast 2leaps at Num-Rah, jaws open. 5+4=9. Its teeth clash on empty air as Num-Rah turns to evade its bite.

Male Human 4 Wizard

Ok, Dartalis will send the flaming sphere at beast 3 then in order to avoid hitting his allies.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

My actions are used up, so I'll roll initiative for next round

I hate this roller

We're rolling initiative for every round?

No. We are not rolling initiative for each round. Just standard rules so that your initial initiative result stands for the whole combat encounter.

It is Dartalis's action. Just waiting for Flaming Sphere results.

Male Human 4 Wizard

oops ) 5+2=7 damage

was Koyrn spell right at the beginning of this fight count as his move, or is he going now?

Good point.

Dartalis wrote:

The burning ball of fire rolls straight toward the third beast and no matter how it tries it cant get out of its way. The ball explodes against it and throws it back against the wall. Beast 3 is down to 39hp

I think i'll allow Koryns spell to have ocured prior to the round so he still has an action.

The Exchange

Thanks Dr. Dark!.

Koryn readies himself for battle, holding his shield before him and holding sap high as he charges them.

Attack:1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 11
Percentile(called high to hit):1d100 ⇒ 47
Damage(nonlethal):1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7

Liberty's Edge

The paladin presses the attack on the beast he had injured.

Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Num-Rah roars, filled with a dragon-like fury, slamming his dread blade down towards the head of the six-legged tentacled beast. Using Stone Bones attack. If it hits, I gain damage reduction 5/adamantine for 1 round.

Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

This is critical. How do I roll for that? Or is it just twice the rolled damage?

Damage 1d12 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Unless I missed something, shouldn't I be going first every round?

Marcus swings his sword at the cat Num-Ra is attacking. attack +7 = 20, dmg = 8

Female Human (Sarcosan) Fighter 2/ Chaneller 3

Smoothly shifting her grip, Ilona hurls her spear at one of the other beasts let's say displacer beast 4 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

As the spear sails through the air, her retrives her katana, her eyes never leaving the battle[/ooc]move to pick up katana[/ooc]

Sorry I didnt post yesterday. Should be posting again in a couple of hours.

Marcus takes a swing at Beast 1. His blow cuts deeply into the dreadful creature. Creature 1 is now down to 12 hp

Joneth Soulborn wrote:

The beast tries desperately to evade Marcus's blow and leaves itself wide open for Joneth who delivers a killing thrust. The Displacer Beast lets out a pathetic wheeze and slumps to the ground, dead.

ven though Ilonas spear seems to fly true, as it hits the creature (4) the weapon seems to pass straight through it and impact on solid cave wall, almost as if the beast was not there.

Num-Rah wrote:

Num-Rahs blade rams down into the second beast. The blade digs deep and a howl of pain fills the cavern. I think that any criticals will just be classed as double damage, no roll needed.32hp damage. Beast 2 is now down to 12 hp.

The other two Displacer Beasts, seeing the fury that is being vented on their two braver companions decide that enough is enough and turn tail, slinking away into a low tunnel mouth on the far side of the cave.

This is what Marcus will do when it is time to move on.

Once Marcus is sure that the threat has ended, he wipes his sword on his, now filthy, cloak. He walks over and picks up his pack.

"Everyone still alive?" He looks around at his companions.

Male Tabaxy Paladin 2

Num-Rah looks at the feline bodies on the ground, with no expression on his face. Ice-blue eyes are cold as death. "Does anyone know how to skin these?", he asks. "I wish to create a sheet for my blade."
