'So,' Komana says looking around the table, 'Any one have any guesses as to what this errand we'll be running for the Society will entail? I wonder, what it is that require the secrecy, something they dug up that they don't want common knowledge, perhaps?'

Iacobus savors another drink as he measures his response, "Given their recruitment of outsiders, it seems unlikely that the big secret is something internal to the Pathfinder Society or that would make them look bad." He sneaks in another piece of food, "Then again, retaining non-members could be part of a ruse to motivate the current membership to find the information before the outsiders can show them up, or to reveal the presence of a Society member who is engaged in unethical conduct."
Komana looks around her, caught somewhat off-guard. She places her glass down slowly then stands.
Dakgu looks up and around trying to figure out whats going on?

A scrathing sound originates from the chimney and then a small white bird flies down into the room. It alights on the table, and you can clearly see it is a white raven with a silver beak and silver accents in its wings. It tilts its head and looks at everyone, blinking warily.
Iacobus, you delayed, so you can act now if you want to.
Dakgu hears the chime and then sees the silver raven. He stands, unsure of what is happening, but readies his hammer none the less.
"Um....whats with the bird?"
Soven approaches the bird with his hands in a peaceful gesture.
"Perhaps this a sign of Desna's favor or a message maybe..."
Soven looks around the room at the rest of the party to measure the situation and their take on it. Looking back at the bird, Soven smiles and says Welcomed you are, in this room little friend, as would be welcomed an education as to the purpose of your visit.

The alarm that set you all on your toes has turned more into a noisy nuisance than anything else at the moment. There is nothing hostile in the room, as far as you can tell by standard senses. Unless the remaining two want to perfom a combat action (move and standard), we'll go back to exploring mode.
Komana casts detect magic from where she is standing, she however keeps her distance from the bird who she is studying with the orison.

The bird glows with a faint aura but it is difficult to pick out what type of aura it is. Roll an Intelligence check.
The bird seems to be aware that you are scanning it and stares back provocatively. Suddenly it flies into the air, shrieking something in common. It takes you all a few seconds to make out the words, "Curiosity is the key."

Rising to the bird's prompting, Iacobus will also mutter an incantation and begin to detect magic.
"What think you, Komana? I count five possibilities; conjured extraplanar entity, magical item, arcanist's familiar, bespelled animal messenger or pure magical construct."
"In any event, I suspect that blasting it out of the air would have constituted failing some test..."
Soven listens intently to the conversation between Komana and Iacobus, while staring intently at the bird. No longer convinced it is a messenger or sign of favor from Desna, Soven is bewildered. Many times while working for the Consulate, there were messages sent in a manner like this, but they were much more subtle and secretive.
"Curiosity is the key....
Komana circles around the bird. 'And still, I think the test is yet to be past. Curiosity is the key, but do we want to unlock what it hides?'
'As to this birds purpose and nature, lets have a closer look, shall we?'

The silver winged raven flies into the air again as those in the room approach it, heading towards the chimney.
A delicate silver chain is around the raven's neck, difficult to see because of the silver wings. (It can only be seen when detecting magic) As you focus on the chain, a pendant shifts out from beneath its feathers, revealing a symbol in draconic.
Komana whistles between her teeth, full lips barely parted, her eyes narrowing.
'Wait,' she barks at the bird, in the sternest voice of command she knew, the very greatest weight a cleric of Abadar could muster with words and tone.
Sharing a glance with her companions, she moves her hand in front of her neck, drawing a chain in the air, then sketching a dragon with her finger in the air. Hoping her message has been gotten across, she makes another cautious step towards the bird.

Iacobus squints at the necklace, attempting to make out the rune. He does not speak Draconic (or recognize it as such), but wishes to be able to draw it accurately and see if someone recognizes it (or use comprehend languages later...).

The bird flutters its wings agitatedly, then shoots towards the chimney again.
Komana jumps for the bird, but comes far too short, stumbling over a chair.
Soven curses profoundly in his strong frustration at being both confused and clueless as to what to do.

the tone is one of intense frustration and not of overt anger or hostility.
Perplexed and taken back, Soven listens to the bard and helplessly mutters in draconic

Iacobus reaches for his backpack, and fishes out a medium sized book, an inkpen and a vial of ink, pushing aside his plate as he begins attempting to draw the unfamiliar symbol he saw on the bird's necklace.
He makes three attempts, and then asks Komana, "Did you note the rune on the bird's necklace? Which of these three seems the most accurate representation of the marking?"
Turning to Sovin, "And is this a character in a language you recognize? You seem to know Draconic, at least, which is a tongue I have never mastered."
Dakgu looked around, confused as to what the deal with the bird was. He did not speak in dragon and could not read it either so he remained silent and simply watched in facination as the bird flew up the chimney.
"Well... theres something you dont see everyday."
No, that was rather unusual in a number of ways....
Soven smiles as he is dumbfounded by it all.
Sure, I will interperet it as needed, if it is indeed a form of draconic that has been used in the last three thousand or so years.
Soven looks over at Komana for the affirmative on the symbol.
